Water flow control assembly
11788645 · 2023-10-17 ·

An apparatus and kit are provided for remotely controlling the flow of a valve in a faucet or shower. The user may remotely control flow by actuating a foot pedal, which pulls a cable causing the valve to open. When the cable is released, springs force the valve closed. Temperature may be remotely controlled as well by the actuation of a separate foot pedal, in which rotation of the foot pedal is transferred by cables to cause rotation of the valve and the corresponding temperature change of the flow.

IMPROVEMENTS IN, OR RELATING TO, TRIGGER VALVES

Disclosed is a trigger valve methods, use and apparatus. The valve has a housing enclosing, at least in part, a cavity. There is a trigger poppet including a poppet sealing portion at least in part within the cavity, the trigger poppet configured to receive an external input at, or toward, a receiving end thereof. A trigger piston including a primary sealing portion and a major face at least in part within the cavity, the trigger piston configured to receive high pressure fluid therethrough, the trigger piston having a minor face opposite the major surface and a secondary sealing portion. The trigger poppet and trigger piston are biased towards each other at least by the high-pressure fluid acting on the minor face, such that the high-pressure fluid is sealed from the cavity by the poppet sealing portion and primary sealing portion in sealing engagement on each other. The secondary sealing portion sealing against the housing, or part thereof, preventing release of the high-pressure fluid therefrom. The poppet sealing portion when displaced from the primary sealing portion by the external input unseals the sealing engagement and allows high pressure fluid to flow into the cavity and act on the major face causing the trigger poppet to move and unseats the secondary sealing portion from the housing, or part thereof, to allow flow of high pressure fluid to then do work, or cause work to be done.

A valve assembly for controlling flow of water to a shower head includes a tube, which is insertable between and attachable to an inlet pipe for a shower enclosure and a shower head. A valve positioned in the tube regulates a flow of water through the tube. A shaft is attached the valve and extends through a sidewall of the tube and a housing. A biaser positioned in the housing is operationally engaged to the shaft and biases the valve to an open configuration. A lever arm is attached to and extends from the shaft. A handle is attached to the lever arm distal from the shaft. The handle can be moved by a user from a first position to a second position, thus actuating the biaser to rotate the valve from a closed configuration to the open configuration so that water flows through the tube to the shower head.

MECHANICAL AND COMBINED MECHANICAL/ELECTRONIC ACTUATOR FOR ANHYDROUS AMMONIA EMERGENCY SHUT OFF VALVES

In various implementations, a manual actuator may be coupled to a valve to provide the ability to shut off anhydrous ammonia flow through the valve remotely (e.g., in emergencies). The valve may be coupled to anhydrous ammonia tanks, such as nurse tanks and/or storage tanks. The manual actuator may include manual release member, a breakaway member, a handle, and pull cord(s). The handle may allow a coupled valve to be opened and/or closed. The handle may allow the valve to be shut off at the valve, in some implementations. The pull cord(s) may allow a coupled valve to be remotely closed.

PRESSURE RELIEF DEVICE

A pressure relief valve configured to vent a pressurized tank in the event of a fire is provided. The pressure relief valve includes a body, a vent passage, a plug and a latch. The vent passage is disposed through the body. The vent passage can be placed in fluid communication with an internal volume of a tank and with the atmosphere. The plug is moveably mounted in the vent passage. The latch has a blocking member disposed in contact with a control end of the plug in a first configuration and out of contact with the control end in a second configuration. The second configuration allows movement of the plug in the vent passage. One or both of a shape memory alloy wire and a trigger piston is configured to actuate the latch from the first to the second configuration. The shape memory alloy wire is configured to shorten when exposed to a temperature above a threshold temperature. The trigger piston moves, e.g., by a pressurized gas, in a trigger actuation passage to actuate the latch from the first configuration to the second configuration.

A thermal trigger assembly for remote mechanical actuation of another fire protection system component includes an activation component having a base and a movable member. A bias member biases the movable member from a preactivation to an activated position with respect to the base. A thermally responsive element retains the movable member in the preactivation position until a predetermined thermodynamic condition is reached, when the thermally responsive element loses structural integrity. A flexible connector includes a flexible hollow outer cable housing with one end configured to be stationarily (preferably fixedly) connected with the base. A flexible cable is inside the outer cable housing for sliding movement therein and has one end configured to be stationarily (preferably fixedly) connected with the movable member. The flexible cable is moved with respect to the outer cable housing by movement of the movable member upon loss of structural integrity by the thermally responsive element.
