Sealing and restraining gasket for use in plastic pipelines
A pipe joining system and pipe joint are shown in which two sections of plastic pipe, particularly molecularly oriented pipe, are joined. A ring-shaped elastomeric body is installed within a mating groove provided in a mouth region of female pipe section. The ring-shaped body is formed of an injection molded elastomeric material which is joined to a series of arcuate gripping segments which have teeth on an inner surface thereof which are designed to engage an outer surface of a mating male pipe section to restrain movement of the male pipe after assembly of a pipe joint. The gripping segments are separated by a gap which is open prior to assembly, but which closes during assembly. Each of the segments also has a positive stop feature to prevent over travel of the male pipe section relative to the female pipe section.
PIPE JOINT INSERT DEVICE, PIPE JOINT ASSEMBLY, AND METHODS OF FORMING SAME
A polymer pipe includes a length between a first end and a second end, the length and the first end having a first diameter. The second end is a belled or female end having a second diameter larger than the first diameter. An insert device is received within the second end and has an annular body formed of a body material and has a spline portion formed as a part of the insert device. The spline portion includes a spline carried by the insert device and resiliently movable in a radial direction relative to an axis of the annular body.
Releasable connect/disconnect fitting connection
A connection to releasably connect and disconnect to a pipe to a fitting provides a pipe fitting body for receiving a pipe and a retaining ring located within the fitting body for retaining and releasing the pipe. The retaining ring has axially extending resilient retaining tabs, each of which has a radially inwardly extending portion for engaging the pipe, and, a radially outwardly extending portion which extends through corresponding radial openings in the fitting body. When the pipe is inserted into the fitting body to an inserted position and the retaining ring is in the first locked axial position, the radially inwardly extending portions engage and retain the pipe in the inserted position. Relative axial movement of the retaining ring with respect to the fitting body from the first locked axial position to a second unlocked axial position causes the radially outwardly extending portions to operatively engage the corresponding body radial openings to resiliently radially outwardly deform each resilient retaining tab thereby disengaging the radially inwardly extending portions from the pipe and permitting removal of the pipe from the inserted position.
Tube connector
A tube connector has a main body, a restricting element, and a sealing ring. The main body has a mounting segment extending outwardly and transversely to form an inner annular space to accommodate the restricting element and the sealing ring. When the tube body is inserted, the tube body will be engaged and positioned by teeth of the restricting element. The sealing ring and the restricting element abut each other to maintain the sealing from the sealing ring. The changes of the pressure from the fluid transporting in the tube body will move the tube body and the main body relatively to and fro, and thus the abutting force against the sealing ring will increase or decrease accordingly, which maintains the elasticity of the sealing ring to maintain the sealing after a long time of use, thereby avoiding elastic fatigue and prolonging the lifespan.
Lightweight sealing gasket for low pressure and non-pressure applications
A pipe sealing gasket is shown which is designed to be received within a raceway provided within the female, belled end of a section of plastic pipe which is assembled with a mating male pipe end to form a plastic pipe joint. The gasket is made up of a hard plastic band having an outer circumferential surface and an inner circumferential surface, and two separated elastomer portions. A first of the separated elastomer portions forms an outer ring which circumscribes the outer circumferential surface of the hard plastic band. The second of the separated elastomer portions forms an inner lip which circumscribes the inner circumferential surface of the hard plastic band. The two separate elastomer portions are connected during the gasket molding operation by a series of spaced ribs which form a continuous body of elastomer connecting the first and second separated elastomer portions at spaced intervals.
Heat transfer interruption for improved fire resistance/proof performance
A fluid coupling includes a first adapter having at least one seal groove in an inner diameter surface of the first adapter, and at least one interruption in the inner diameter surface adjacent to the at least one seal groove. The fluid coupling may include a second adapter having an outer diameter surface engaging with at least a portion of the inner diameter surface of the first adapter to form a conductor path between the first adapter and the second adapter. The fluid coupling may further include at least one seal disposed in the at least one seal groove to provide a sealed connection between the first adapter and the second adapter. The at least one interruption may be configured to interrupt the conductor path in a region around the at least one seal.
System, method and apparatus for low profile seal
A pipe seal assembly includes a stiffener having an axis, an inner diameter (ID) and an outer diameter (OD). The seal assembly also includes an elastomer that is coupled to and extending though the stiffener, such that the elastomer is located on both the ID and the OD of the stiffener. A method of manufacturing a tubular member includes forming the tubular member with a female end; locating a seal assembly having an extension inside the female end, pressing the seal assembly into the female end to form a seal groove, belling the tubular member using the seal assembly to form a belled shape, and pressing the extension into the interior of the female end to form a spline groove inside the female end adjacent the seal groove; and then sacrificially removing the extension, but leaving the seal assembly to form a final assembly.
System, method and apparatus for debris shield for squeeze-activated retainer for a conduit
An assembly includes a tubular body having an axis, an axial end, a bore that is axial an aperture and a retainer groove formed in the bore and contiguous with the aperture. The assembly also includes a retainer mounted in the retainer groove. The retainer has a debris shield located external to the tubular body. The retainer includes a nominal configuration wherein the debris shield is configured to close off access to the aperture and the retainer groove to prevent debris from accumulating therein. In addition, the retainer includes an expanded configuration wherein the debris shield is not configured to completely close off access to the aperture and the retainer groove.
RELEASABLE CONNECT/DISCONNECT FITTING CONNECTION
A connection to releasably connect and disconnect to a pipe to a fitting provides a pipe fitting body for receiving a pipe and a retaining ring assembly located within the fitting body for retaining and releasing the pipe. The retaining ring assembly has axially extending inwardly angled resilient retaining tabs, each of which has a pipe retaining portion. When the pipe is inserted into the fitting body to an inserted position, the pipe retaining portions engage an indentation on the pipe to retain the pipe in the inserted position. Relative movement of the axially extending inwardly angled resilient retaining tabs with respect to the fitting body from the first locked position to a second unlocked position causes each axially extending inwardly angled resilient retaining tabs to disengage from the indentation on the pipe permitting removal of the pipe from the inserted position in the fitting body.
Restrained gasket for plastic pipes
A gasket for preventing the separation of a pipe joint formed between plastic pipes such as pipes manufactured from PVC. The invention provides an internally restrained pipe joint including a bell with a substantially V-shaped annular groove. The annular groove includes a front radial wall and a rear radial wall and a gasket seated in the annular groove. The gasket includes an inner radial face, an opening defined by the inner radial face and an outer radial face with a front radial section located adjacent to the front radial wall of the annular groove and a rear radial section located adjacent to the rear radial wall of the annular groove. A plurality of toothed, rigid restraining segments is at least partially embedded in the gasket.
