Tape for insulation jacketing and method of forming securable insulation jacket
11852275 · 2023-12-26 · ·

A multilayer tape assembly is described which can be used with insulation jacketing and particularly for self-sealing lap (SSL) applications. The tape assembly includes two adhesive layers with associated carrier and release layers in conjunction with a differential release system. Various methods of use are also described, including a method of forming a securable insulation jacket.

Systems and Methods Related to Conduit Insulation

Systems and methods according to the present invention utilize improved sleeves for insulating fluid (i.e., liquid and/or gas) conduits. For example, some blow dryers are equipped with a flexible conduit to convey heated air from a heater element to a nozzle for such purposes as material handling, material drying, or even hair drying, such as pet or other animal hair drying. An improved insulating tubular sleeve is provided with securing and/or mounting mechanisms to assist in maintaining sleeve position along a conduit and to reduce heat transfer externally from the conduit, such as by preventing direct contact between animal hair or skin or other materials and the conduit.

VAPOR RETARDER FOR INSULATED PIPE
20200363004 · 2020-11-19 ·

A vapor barrier and method for applying same around an insulated pipe structure is disclosed. The vapor barrier a vapor retarder layer, an adhesive layer disposed on one side of the vapor retarder layer, and a release layer covering the adhesive layer. The vapor barrier has a two-dimensional geometric profile which corresponds to a three-dimensional structure of a specific pipe joint. Applying the vapor barrier comprises removing first and second portions of the release layer to expose respective portions of the adhesive layer, adhering the respective portions of release layer to corresponding areas of the pipe joint, forming an overlap seal in which a portion of the vapor barrier is adhered to itself via a portion of the adhesive layer, and forming an edge seal in which a portion of the prefabricated vapor barrier is adhered to a portion of adjacent insulation structure via a portion of the adhesive layer.

Pipe insulation assembly

Pipe insulation assemblies (10) comprising tubular insulation (100) having a longitudinal slit (400), a jacket (110), releasable tape (120), butt sealant strips (600), and/or closing adhesives are disclosed. The jacket (110) overlays the outer surface of the tubular insulation (100). The jacket (110) has an extended lip portion (200) extending beyond the longitudinal slit (400). An adhesive (420) and an internal release liner (130) are located on the extended lip portion (200).

VENTILATION SYSTEM WITH TAPERED FLEXIBLE CONDUIT
20200300486 · 2020-09-24 · ·

A tapered flexible conduit and a ventilation system incorporating the same. The conduit is arranged to extend between a register and a fan assembly, such as in a whole house fan (WHF) system. The conduit includes a flexible inner liner surrounded by a flexible outer liner. The flexible inner liner has a length of helically formed wire coupled to a flexible membrane. The flexible outer liner includes an insulative layer to provide acoustic baffling for an airflow established by the fan assembly passing through the conduit. The tapered conduit has a frusto-conical shape along an overall length of the conduit to sealingly engage differently sized inlet and exhaust ports of the register and the fan assembly, respectively. The collapsible nature of the respective inner and outer liners reduces bulk during shipment and accommodates a variety of different configurations during installation.

Systems and methods for insulating a pipe with a pre-applied vapor-barrier stop

A vapor-barrier stop pre-treated piping insulation system including an insulation segment, a vapor-barrier stop, and a sealant. The insulation segment includes a cylindrical exterior surface, a cylindrical exterior surface, a first end surface, a second end surface, at least two ledge surfaces, and a wall extending between the cylindrical exterior surface and the cylindrical interior surface. The vapor-barrier stop is applied prior to installation of the insulation segment and extends, starting from at least the first end surface, over the cylindrical interior surface, the cylindrical exterior surface, the at least two ledge surfaces, and the first end surface along the insulation segment towards the second end surface. The vapor-barrier stop is configured to impede vapor-exchange through the vapor-barrier stop.
