A light fixture assembly for mounting on a mounting surface of a building material includes: a light fixture. The light fixture comprises a main body comprising a back side surface and a light transmissive side surface opposing the back side surface. The main body has a first dimension from a first lateral edge to a second lateral edge opposing the first lateral edge that is greater than a second dimension from the back side surface to the light transmissive side surface. The assembly further includes a mounting adapter provided at the back side surface, and a plate spring provided at the back side surface and extending along a first direction from the first lateral edge to the second lateral edge. The plate spring is configured to apply a restoring force to the first lateral edge and the second lateral edge.

Luminaire retention

A retention structure for retaining a recessed lighting fixture behind a ceiling includes an attachment structure that has a first wall and a second wall. The attachment structure is designed to be attached to a housing of a recessed light fixture. The retention structure further includes a screw attached to the first wall of the attachment structure and to the second wall of the attachment structure. The retention structure also includes a pawl attached to the threaded screw. The pawl is rotatable along with the threaded screw. The pawl is also axially movable along the threaded screw between the first wall of the attachment structure and the second wall of the attachment structure.

A solid state lighting fixture with an integrated driver circuit. A housing has a base end and an open end through which light is emitted from the fixture. The reflective interior surface of the fixture and the base define an optical chamber. At least one, and often multiple, light sources are mounted at the fixture base along with the circuitry necessary to drive and/or control the light sources. The drive circuit and the light sources are both located in the optical chamber. A reflective cone fits within the optical chamber such that it covers most of the drive circuit and other components at the base of fixture that might absorb light. The reflective cone is shaped to define a hole that is aligned with the light sources so that light may be emitted through the hole toward the open end of the fixture.
