A system, and kit of parts capable of retrofit and use with an air handling system. The system includes housing and a drain pan with a raised edge. The kit includes a fluid reservoir attachable to the housing for holding fluid, a pump mounted on the fluid reservoir, and a tube to transfer the fluid from the fluid reservoir to the drain pan. The drain pan includes a drain. A tube clasp made from a single piece of material folded upon itself to define an opening for receiving the tube. The tube clasp has a spring loaded hinge. The open portion includes a flared section to enable the open portion to removeably clasp the raised edge of the drain pan. In one embodiment the pump intermittently pumps fluid into the pan to increase latency of the fluid in the pan and drain to enable the fluid to inhibit algae growth.

A tool and method clean and drain a water heater tank, removing water and sediment from the tank. An insert tube fits through the hot water outlet port to reach the bottom of the tank interior. A fitting connects the insert tube to a hose extending down the outside of the tank to the floor/ground to a drain or container that is lower than the bottom of the tank interior. After priming the tool by using the cold water inlet flow to fill the tool with water and sediment, the cold water inlet is disconnected from the water heater, venting the tank so that water and sediment are siphoned out of the tank through the tool to empty the tank. The tool and method work without unplugging or disconnecting a clogged water heater drain line, without using a compressor or pump, and without creating a wet, messy environment.

A condensate drain system for a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a heat exchanger having a plurality of tubes configured to receive ambient air and fluidly coupled to a drain via a conduit, a valve positioned along the conduit between the plurality of tubes and the drain, where the valve is configured to enable a flow of condensate from within the plurality of tubes toward the drain in an open position and the block the flow in a closed position, and a controller configured to adjust a position of the valve based on feedback indicative of an operational state of the HVAC system.

A drain pump assembly for discharging condensate from a water heater appliance is provided. The drain pump assembly includes a condensate collection tray positioned below an evaporator of the water heater appliance for collecting condensate. A condensate level sensor is configured for measuring a level of condensate within the condensate collection tray and is in operative communication with a drain pump. The drain pump is configured for discharging collected condensate from the condensate collection tray when the level of condensate exceeds a first threshold and turning off after the condensate level drops below a second threshold.
