WATER HEATER APPLIANCES AND METHODS OF SABBATH OPERATION
A water heater appliance, as provided herein, may include a casing, a tank, an inlet conduit, an electric heating system, a mixing valve, and a controller. The electric heating system may be in thermal communication with the tank to heat water within the tank. The mixing valve mounted to the casing downstream from the tank. The controller may be operably coupled to the electric heating system and the mixing valve to initiate a Sabbath cycle. The Sabbath cycle may include determining an anticipated Sabbath condition at the water heater appliance, directing a lower portion of the tank of the water heater appliance to a sub-cooking Sabbath temperature below 45 degrees Celsius based on the anticipated Sabbath condition, determining the sub-cooking Sabbath temperature is met, and directing a mixing valve of the water heater appliance to a Sabbath set-point temperature in response to determining the sub-cooking Sabbath temperature is met.
METHODS FOR DETECTING SENSOR FAULTS IN A CONSUMER APPLIANCE
A method for operating a consumer appliance, as provided herein, may include detecting a preliminary first conversion value from a first sensor input pin electrically connected to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and detecting a preliminary second conversion value from a second sensor input pin electrically connected to the ADC in electrical parallel with the first sensor input pin. The method may further include determining a preliminary variation between the preliminary first and second conversion values is less than or equal to a predetermined preliminary threshold. The method may still further include activating a pull-up resistor in electrical communication with the first sensor input pin, identifying a fault state in response based on a conversion value variation following activating the pull-up resistor, and directing the appliance based on the determined fault state.
MIXING VALVE WITH PROFILED PLUNGER FOR LINEARIZED TEMPERATURE OUTPUT
A mixing valve for a water heater appliance includes a valve body that defines a mixing chamber, the mixing chamber being in fluid communication with a cold water inlet conduit and a hot water inlet conduit. The cold water inlet conduit defines a profiled junction defining an inlet orifice and a plunger valve is mounted within the valve body and is moveable relative to the inlet orifice to regulate a flow of water through the inlet orifice. A distal end of the plunger valve defines a profiled sealing face, the profiled sealing face and the inlet orifice being cooperative to permit a flow rate that is substantially proportional to a valve position.
HYDRONIC SPACE CONDITIONING AND WATER HEATING SYSTEMS WITH INTEGRATED DISINFECTING DEVICE
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a system for disinfecting water for hydronic space conditioning and domestic hot water. The system includes a thermal storage tank, a disinfecting device and a control unit. The control unit monitors an outlet temperature of water exiting the thermal storage tank. Further, the control unit calculates a temperature difference between a temperature threshold limit associated with the disinfecting device and the outlet temperature. The control unit transmits a first signal to the disinfecting device when the temperature difference is a positive value. The first signal operates the disinfecting device in the activation mode for heating the water to provide anti-bacterial sanitation. The control unit transmits a second signal to the disinfecting device for deactivating the disinfecting device when the temperature difference is a negative value. The sanitized water from the disinfecting device is used for conditioning an enclosure and a domestic hot water.
ON-DEMAND HEAT PUMP WATER HEATER
The disclosed technology includes an on-demand water heater which uses a heat pump to heat the fluid. The on-demand heat pump water heater can have a low fluid capacity heating chamber which has an inlet and an outlet, a heat pump for heating the fluid, and a controller to control the heat pump and maintain the temperature of the fluid at a predetermined temperature. The on-demand heat pump water heater can include one or more temperature sensors, flow sensors, fluid mixing valves, or supplemental heat sources.
WATER HEATER APPLIANCES AND METHODS FOR DELAYED ACTIVATION
A water heater appliance, as provided herein, may include a casing, a tank, an inlet conduit, an electric heating system, and a controller. The tank may be disposed within the casing, the tank defining an inlet and an outlet. The inlet conduit may be mounted to the tank at the inlet of the tank. The electric heating system may be in thermal communication with the tank to heat water within the tank. The controller may be in operative communication with the electric heating system. The controller may be configured to initiate a responsive-heating cycle. The responsive heating cycle may include detecting expiration of a dormant event at the water heater appliance, initiating a randomized delay period in response to detecting expiration of the dormant event, and initiating activation of the water heater appliance following the delay period.
Combustion apparatus
A combustion apparatus (1) has a burner (11) configured to burn combustion gas, a heat exchanger (12) disposed below the burner (11), and a combustion fan (13) configured to supply air for combustion, wherein the combustion apparatus performs post-purge operation in which the combustion fan (13) is activated for a predetermined period of time after combustion operation of the burner (11) stops, and intermittent blower operation in which activation and deactivation of the combustion fan (13) is repeated a plurality of times at predetermined intervals after the post-purge operation ends.
COMBINED HEATING AND HOT-WATER BOILER AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR
The present invention provides a combined heating and hot-water boiler for heating and hot-water. The combined heating and hot-water boiler comprises: a main heat exchanger which heats heating water through heat exchange; a hot-water heat exchanger to which the heating water heated by the main heat exchanger is supplied, and which heats tap water into hot water through heat exchange with the heating water; and a control unit which controls the flow of the heating water having passed through the hot-water heat exchanger to control the formation of at least one of a first flow path for supplying, to an object to be heated, the heating water having passed through the hot-water heat exchanger, and a second flow path for supplying, to the main heat exchanger, the heating water having passed through the hot-water heat exchanger.
