Hearth for a metallurgical furnace having an improved wall lining
A hearth for a metallurgical reactor, in particular for a blast furnace, has an outer shell and an annular wall lining of refractory material inside the shell, the wall lining having a lower region with a multi-layered construction, a radially inner layer faces the interior of the hearth and includes at least one inner ring of refractory elements, radially outer layer faces the outer shell and has at least one outer ring of refractory elements, where in the at least one inner ring elements are made of a first carbonaceous refractory material that is different from one or more carbonaceous refractory materials of the elements in the outer layer such that, the first refractory material contains, in a proportion of at least 5% by mass in total, at least one property-enhancing additive other than metallic silicon or silicon carbide. In beneficial combination therewith, the at least one inner ring has a wall thickness of less than 45%, of the corresponding total wall thickness of the wall lining.
Single mounting cast iron or copper stave cooler
All of a cast-iron or cast-copper stave cooler's weight is supported inside a furnace containment shell by single gas-tight steel collar on the backside. All the coolant piping in each cooler has every external connection collected and routed together through the one steel collar. A wear protection barrier is disposed on the hot face. Such is limited to include at least one of horizontal rows of ribs and channels that retain metal inserts or refractory bricks, or pockets that assist in the retention of castable cement and/or accretions frozen in place from a melt, or an application of an area of hardfacing that is welded on in bead, crosshatch, or weave pattern.
Ramming mass for the refractory lining of a metallurgical vessel, method for the placement thereof and metallurgical vessel, in particular blast furnace, comprising a lining using said ramming mass
A ramming mass for the block lining of at least some of the refractory elements of a refractory lining of a metallurgical vessel such as a blast furnace, said ramming mass being composed of a mixture of a granular phase and a binder phase, wherein the granular phase and/or binder comprises at least one component having a microporous structure or capable of forming a microporous structure by firing during the blast furnace campaign. The ramming mass is in particular intended for forming the joint between two concentric annular assemblies forming a side wall of the vessel or between a lower part of an inner annular assembly and the periphery of one or more refractory layers forming the floor of the vessel.

Method for manufacturing a refractory for an inner lining of a blast furnace and blast furnace having the inner lining
A refractory, which is particularly suitable for use in an inner lining of a blast furnace, is obtainable by a process. The process includes providing a mixture containing coke, silicon and a binder. A green block is formed from the mixture. The green block is then baked. The baked block is semi-graphitized at a temperature between 1600 and 2000 C.

REFRACTORY LAYER STRUCTURES AND ASSEMBLIES FOR VESSELS EXPOSED TO MOLTEN MATERIALS
A refractory layer structure includes a layer of refractory blocks locked by each other in a tessellated pattern.
INTERLOCKING REFRACTORY BRICKS AND REFRACTORY LAYER STRUCTURES FORMED THEREWITH
A refractory layer structure includes a plurality of refractory layers stacked on each other. Each of the refractory layers includes refractory bricks. Each of the refractory bricks is formed as a cuboid having a pair of oppositely positioned first diverging sides and a pair of oppositely positioned second diverging sides. The first diverging sides diverge away from each other from a top to a bottom of the refractory bricks. The second diverging sides diverge away from each other from the bottom to the top of the refractory bricks. The first diverging sides and the second diverging sides are connected to each other. Each of the first diverging sides have a first diverging side protrusion projecting from a top surface thereof. Each of the second diverging sides have a second diverging side protrusion projecting from a top surface thereof.
High pressure furnace and methods of use
A furnace system including an outer shell which comprises a top flange, an elongated body portion, and a bottom flange, wherein the outer shell is a pressure vessel, with no penetrations in the elongated body portion; a heater assembly which comprises (i) a single-piece annular shaped insulation layer, and (ii) a plurality of heaters embedded in the insulation layer, wherein the heater assembly is disposed within the elongated body portion of the outer shell; and an innermost layer disposed within the annular-shaped insulation layer, wherein the innermost layer is a baffle tube configured to force a natural convective flow, wherein each of the plurality of heaters is individually controllable and the plurality of heaters are configured to heat different zones within the furnace to different temperatures and/or at different rates. The system may be used to heat treat magnet materials, such as those formed of Bi-2212, therein.
