HEAT EXCHANGERS AND MANUFACTURING METHODS THEREFOR

A method can include additively manufacturing a heat exchanger core having one or more fluid channels using a first additive manufacturing process and a first material. The method can also include additively manufacturing a support structure around the heat exchanger core using a second additive manufacturing process different from the first additive manufacturing process and a second material different from the first material after additively manufacturing the heat exchanger core.

Aircraft Heat Exchanger Assembly

A heat exchanger has: an inlet manifold having an inlet port; and an outlet manifold having an outlet port. A first gas flowpath passes from the inlet port to the outlet port. A plurality of plate banks are positioned end-to-end, each plate bank having a plurality of conduits with interiors along respective branches of the first gas flowpath, a second gas flowpath extending across exteriors of the plurality of conduits. One or more docks couple adjacent ends of the plurality of plate banks.

HIGH PRESSURE CAPABLE LIQUID TO REFRIGERANT HEAT EXCHANGER

A liquid to refrigerant heat exchanger includes a coolant volume that is at least partially defined by a plastic housing and by a metal closure plate. The plastic housing is sealingly joined to the closure plate along an outer periphery of the closure plate. The metal closure plate can be part of a brazed assembly that defines a continuous refrigerant flow path through the heat exchanger between a refrigerant inlet port and a refrigerant outlet port.

A heat exchanger core consists of first and second fluid channels, each configured to direct flow of respective fluids through the heat exchanger core. Each first fluid channel includes first fluid flow assemblies having inner channels formed by inner channel walls that contain the first fluid, each inner channel surrounded by a barrier channel having a barrier channel wall that isolates the barrier channel from the second fluid. One or more barrier channel vanes support the inner channel within the barrier channel. Each barrier channel provides a void space between the inner channel wall and the barrier channel wall, thereby fluidly separating the first fluid from the second fluid. Each barrier channel can receive the first or second fluid in the event of a breach of the inner channel wall or the barrier channel wall, thereby preventing intra-fluid contamination.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL OF A PUMPED GAS FLOW

A heat exchanger for changing a temperature of a pumped gas flow and a pump comprising the heat exchanger is disclosed. The heat exchanger comprises: at least one tube configured to contain a flow of fluid; said at least one tube being at least partially embedded within a block of material; wherein said heat exchanger comprises mounting means configured to mount said heat exchanger adjacent to a gas port of a pump such that a least a portion of said heat exchanger extends into a path for gas flow flowing through said gas port; wherein the mounting means comprises a flange, the flange being configured to connect with the gas port of the pump, the block being mounted to the flange such that the block extends towards the rotor of the pump when the flange is connected with the gas port of the pump.

HIGH PRESSURE CAPABLE LIQUID TO REFRIGERANT HEAT EXCHANGER

A liquid to refrigerant heat exchanger includes an enclosed coolant volume that is at least partially defined by a plastic housing and by a metal closure plate. The metal closure plate can be part of a brazed assembly containing a continuous refrigerant flow path. The refrigerant flow path is disposed within the coolant volume, where heat can be transferred between the refrigerant within the refrigerant flow path and the liquid within the coolant volume. The plastic housing can at least partially surround the refrigerant flow path to at least partially bound a liquid flow path along a portion of the coolant volume. An inlet diffuser and an outlet diffuser can be mounted to the housing to direct the liquid through the housing. The plastic housing is sealingly joined to the closure plate along an outer periphery of the closure plate.

The invention provides a heat exchanger for a cooling system of a motor vehicle, in particular a motorcycle. The heat exchanger includes a housing, a supply connection via which a fluid can be supplied to the heat exchanger, a return connection via which the cooled fluid can be discharged from the heat exchanger, and a heat exchange region in which the fluid interacts with a medium in order to be cooled. The fluid dispenses thermal energy to the medium. The supply connection and the return connection are arranged on a common connection side of the housing. The heat exchange region includes multiple heat exchanger tubes through which the fluid flows from the connection side to a side opposite the connection side. A singular discharge tube runs from the opposite side to the return connection. The invention further provides a cooling system and an assembly.

HEAT EXCHANGER CORE DESIGN

A heat exchanger core includes a plurality of first medium channels along which a first medium is directed from a first first medium channel end to a second first medium end, and a plurality of second medium channels along which a second medium is directed from a first second medium channel end to a second second medium channel end. The first medium channels and/or the second medium channels are formed to have a first portion having a first cross-sectional shape and one or more second portions having a second, different cross-sectional shape. The channel transitions smoothly from the first to the second cross-sectional shape.
