Sliding cam system

The present disclosure relates to a sliding cam system for an internal combustion engine. The sliding cam system has a camshaft and a plurality of cam carriers with in each case at least two cams, the plurality of cam carriers being arranged fixedly on the camshaft so as to rotate with it and in an axially displaceable manner. The sliding cam system has a plurality of fluid-actuated actuator apparatuses which are configured in each case for axially displacing a cam carrier of the plurality of cam carriers. The sliding cam system has a fluid feed apparatus which is provided for feeding a fluid in a fluidic connection upstream of the plurality of actuator apparatuses for actuating the plurality of actuator apparatuses. At least two actuator apparatuses of the plurality of actuator apparatuses are coupled fluidically for simultaneous actuation.

SLIDING ELEMENT WITH PARTIALLY HARDENED LATCHING ELEVATION

A slide element for displacement of a cam segment in an axial direction along a camshaft may include a slide sleeve, which has a longitudinal toothing formed at least sectionally along an inner wall of the slide sleeve and has a latching section formed on the inner wall and serving for interaction with a latching means. The latching section comprises a latching means receiving part, which comprises at least two latching grooves formed adjacently in an axial direction and at least one latching elevation formed between the latching grooves of the latching means receiving part and directed inward. The latching elevation may be partially hardened exclusively in a latching means transfer region.

SLIDING CAMSHAFT ASSEMBLY

A camshaft assembly includes an actuator and an axially moveable structure mounted to a base shaft wherein the axially moveable structure includes a plurality of lobe packs and a cam barrel. The axially movable structure moves along the base shaft in the axial direction along a longitudinal axis of the base shaft, but is rotationally fixed to the base shaft. The barrel cam includes an inner wall and an outer wall which defines a control groove therebetween. The control groove further defines first and second regions wherein the first region includes a fixed narrow control groove width and the second region includes a progressively decreasing control groove width. The actuator shifts the axially moveable structure relative to the base shaft between a first position and a second position. A recess is defined in the outer wall such that the recess is disposed adjacent to the first region.

Valve Drive for an Internal Combustion Engine

A valve drive for a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine has a first camshaft which is rotatably mounted in a first and a second camshaft bearing and which includes at least one cam with a first cam curve and a second cam curve that differs from the first cam curve. A gas exchange valve is actuated by the first or the second cam curve. A camshaft section is provided, by which the cam can be moved by an actuator such that the gas exchange valve can be actuated either via the first or the second cam curve. The first camshaft and the cam have a fixed position relative to each other. The first camshaft can be axially moved in the first and the second camshaft bearing, and an axial lock is provided for the camshaft.

Disclosed is a method and system for intermittently operating poppet valves in an internal combustion engine when desired by the selective locking or unlocking of one or more cam lobes with the camshaft. One or more cam lobes, with a small radial clearance, ride on a camshaft such that an engagement mechanism may be activated as desired to lock the cam lobe to the camshaft, thereby activating the respective poppet valve. The cam lobe is prevented from moving axially to ensure correct alignment with a follower. A suitable holding device may be used to ensure the non-activated cam lobes are restrained at a suitable orientation relative to the cam follower.

A method for positioning a cam element on a shaft segment of a camshaft with an assembly aid element may comprise arranging the shaft segment relative to a first tool such that a first distal shaft segment end of the shaft segment lies flush against a surface of the tool that is directed towards the shaft segment; arranging the cam element on the shaft segment in a pre-position; arranging a first distal end of the assembly aid element to contact the surface of the first tool that is directed towards the shaft segment such that the assembly aid element forms a defined distance to the first tool along a shaft-segment longitudinal axis; and moving a second tool at least in sections along the longitudinal axis until the second tool contacts a second distal end of the assembly aid element, and pushing the cam element by means of the second tool to a final position.

There is provided an assembling structure of an engine. An oil control valve unit is configured to control oil pressure in a variable valve timing device of the engine. The oil control valve unit is installed on a cylinder head. The cylinder head is assembled to a crankcase. An outer wall of the cylinder head is formed with an opening into which the oil control valve unit is partially inserted. A mating surface of the cylinder head and the crankcase is fastened by at least a pair of bolts spaced apart across the opening.

The invention relates to a clamping nest for positioning a component on a shaft, and joining it thereto. The component here has a central part with a circular-cylindrical aperture for accommodating the shaft. The clamping nest has a fork-shaped region for accommodating the component, wherein the fork-shaped region comprises a plurality of clamping elements, which secure the angled position of the component within the fork-shaped region. The fork-shaped region also comprises two opposite bearing surfaces, which secure the axial position of the component in a form-fitting manner in both axial directions.
