ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY, COMPLIANCE CAPSULES, ACTUATORS, AND SUPPORT STRUCTURES
Several devices are disclosed that can be usable together or used in other valvetrains. Disclosed herein are a rocker arm assembly, compliance capsules for a switchable capsule of the rocker arm, actuators, and support structures for the actuators. The alternative compliance capsules can be electromechanically actuated by the alternative actuators, which are hung over the rocker shaft by the support structure. A cam actuator can be in addition to an overhead cam rail and in addition to the rocker shaft. The cam actuator can be configured with a compliance capsule so that the switching of the switchable capsule is mechanically linked and less reliant on precise electrical signal timing.
ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLIES
A rocker arm assembly can comprise a rocker tube configured to be positioned around a rocker shaft, the rocker tube comprising a retention mechanism. A first rocker arm can be press-fit to the rocker tube. A second rocker arm can be pivotably mounted around the rocker tube and retained on the rocker tube by the retention mechanism. An alternative rocker arm assembly, that can be combined with the first rocker arm assembly, can comprise a first and second rocker am and a plate fixed to the first rocker arm. The plate can comprise an extension extending over the second rocker arm. A lost motion spring can be installed between the second rocker arm and the extension.
Helical torsion valve spring assembly
A helical torsion valve spring assembly includes one or more helical torsion springs mounted within a frame and are held in a statically loaded state so that installation of a valve spring retainer can be easily performed. The entire helical torsion valve spring assembly is installed as a single part onto a cylinder head of an engine valvetrain. The helical torsion springs are mounted around a shaft to accurately locate the helical torsion springs so that the forces acting on the retainer and valve are precisely controlled. The assembly minimizes the size of the retainer, and applies only one bending mode to the helical torsion springs, which provides maximum utilization of the spring material and minimizes coil vibration. The assembly allows spring coils to be strategically packaged in the engine valvetrain to create space in critical areas.
ROCKER ARM
A rocker arm includes a roller, a support shaft coaxially mounted in the roller, walls arranged along a rotation axis and having the roller therebetween and having through holes, respectively, through which end portions of the support shaft are inserted, and each of the walls having an inner surface opposite the roller, and holding members mounted in the respective walls. The holding member includes a tubular portion mounted in each through hole and disposed between an inner peripheral surface of the through hole and an outer surface of an end portion of the support shaft, a first stopper portion included at a first end of the tubular portion to be in contact with the inner surface of one of the walls, and a second stopper portion included at a second end of the tubular portion to be in contact with an end surface of one of the end portions.
System and method for rotational combustion engine
A rotational combustion engine that generates force from the reciprocal motion and centripetal motion of one or more pistons that is then converted into rotational motion of a first cam and second cam wherein the cams are separated by a 2-3 degree horizontal offset and an angle of 60 degrees as well as camshaft assembly and driving shaft to provide power to an entity such as an automobile.
Castellation device, mechanical capsule, and rocker arm
A castellation device comprises a shaft surrounded by three castellation members. A first castellation member is rotatably mounted on the shaft and comprises a first end and a second end opposite to the first end. A second castellation member is slidably mounted along the shaft adjacent the first end of the first castellation member. A third castellation member is mounted to the shaft adjacent the second end of the first castellation member. A bias spring is disposed between the second castellation member and the third castellation member and is configured to bias the second castellation member away from the third castellation member. Optionally, an annular shroud can enclose the three castellation members. The first castellation member is rotatable relative to the second and third castellation members between a first position and a second position.
RETENTION PLATE
A retention plate for a hydraulic lash adjuster of a valve train is provided. The retention plate includes a first surface. The retention plate includes a second surface mutually opposite the first surface. The second surface is adapted to contact with a cylinder head of an engine. The retention plate also includes a coupling mechanism defined on the retention plate. The coupling mechanism is adapted to couple the retention plate to the cylinder head. The coupling mechanism includes a through hole adapted to receive a mechanical fastener therethrough. The retention plate further includes a restriction mechanism defined on the retention plate. The restriction mechanism is adapted to restrict a movement of the hydraulic lash adjuster beyond the first surface towards the cylinder head. The restriction mechanism includes an aperture having an aperture size smaller than an outer diameter of the hydraulic lash adjuster.
ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY WITH VALVE BRIDGE
A rocker arm assembly selectively opening first and second engine valves. The assembly includes a rocker arm and a valve bridge operably associated with the rocker arm and including a main body and a lever rotatably coupled to the main body. The main body is configured to engage the first engine valve, and the lever is configured to engage the second engine valve.
Actuation arrangement for actuating a latch in a switchable rocker arm and a valve train comprising the same
A valve train assembly includes: at least one dual body rocker arm having a first body, a second body, and a latching arrangement for latching and unlatching the first body and the second body, the latching arrangement being biased to an unlatched configuration; and an actuator arrangement external to the rocker arm for controlling the latching arrangement, the actuator arrangement being arranged so that a default setting thereof is to cause the latching arrangement to be in a latched configuration.
SELF-RESETTING SINGLE-VALVE HYDRAULIC DRIVE DEVICE AND METHOD BASED ON PRIMARY AND SECONDARY PISTONS FOR PUSH ROD ENGINE
A self-resetting single-valve hydraulic drive device and method based on primary and secondary pistons for a push rod engine is provided. A primary driving piston and a secondary driving piston are respectively provided on a rocker arm body and a valve bridge body. The secondary driving piston is connected to an exhaust valve. A driving oil passage connects the primary driving piston, the secondary driving piston and a drive control valve. When the drive control valve opens the driving oil passage, the primary driving piston and the secondary driving piston realize a hydraulic linkage. During a drive lift, the rocker arm body and the valve bridge body do not move, and the secondary driving piston opens the exhaust valve. In the beginning of a positive-power lift, a primary piston body oil passage and a secondary piston oil passage are closed, and the secondary driving piston is automatically reset.
