ENGINE SYSTEM WITH AIR PUMP FOR ENHANCED TURBOCHARGER AIR EXCHANGE
An engine system includes an internal combustion engine having an engine block with one or more piston-cylinder arrangements communicating with an intake manifold and an exhaust manifold, a charge air passageway to the intake manifold, and an exhaust gas passageway that receives exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold. The engine system also includes one or more turbochargers each including a compressor to compress charge air and output the compressed charge air to the charge air passageway and a turbine that receives exhaust gas from the exhaust gas passageway and drives the compressor in response to the exhaust gas passing through the turbine. An air pump is positioned downstream of the compressor that supplies a portion of the compressed charge air into the exhaust gas passageway upstream of the turbine, such that the turbine receives both exhaust gas and compressed charge air.

Method of operating a supercharged internal combustion engine
A method for operating a supercharged internal combustion engine. Before a cold start of the engine, an electric drive device of an electrically assisted exhaust-gas turbocharger of the engine is activated such that fresh air is compressed by a compressor of the turbocharger and, in the process, is heated and is conveyed via an open overrun air recirculation valve arranged downstream of the compressor, through a short circuit back to a suction side of the compressor of the turbocharger. A proportion of the air that is heated by way of the short-circuit operation of the compressor is, downstream of the compressor and upstream of a closed throttle flap of the engine, conducted via a secondary air system into an exhaust manifold and from there via a wastegate of the turbocharger into the catalytic converters of an exhaust-gas aftertreatment device of the engine.
Pillar shaped honeycomb structure, exhaust gas purifying device, exhaust system, and method for producing honeycomb structure
A pillar shaped honeycomb structure includes: a porous partition wall that defines a plurality of cells, the cells forming flow paths for a fluid, the cells extending from an inflow end face to an outflow end face; and an outer peripheral wall located at the outermost circumference. At least a part of surfaces of the partition walls has a surface layer, and the surface layer includes magnetic particles and has permeability.
FLASH BOILING INJECTION CONTROL
An exemplary vehicle exhaust system includes, among other things, a housing defining a fluid chamber and at least one pressure sensor positioned within the fluid chamber. The housing has a fluid inlet configured to receive fluid from a fluid supply and a fluid outlet. A heater heats fluid supplied from the fluid supply such that heated fluid can be injected into a vehicle exhaust component via the fluid outlet. A controller is configured to receive pressure data from the at least one pressure sensor and to determine optimal timing for dosing of the vehicle exhaust component based on the pressure data.
