LIQUID ONLY LANCE INJECTOR

A lance injector assembly for an exhaust component is provided. The lance injector assembly includes a lance and a poppet valve. The lance includes a lance housing, a supply passage fluidly coupled to a reductant source and terminating at a nozzle orifice, and a return passage fluidly coupled to the reductant source. The poppet valve is positioned downstream of the nozzle orifice and includes a poppet movable between a closed position and an open position. When operating in a recirculation mode, the poppet is in the closed position to permit a full portion of reductant supplied to the lance from the reductant source to return to the reductant source. When operating in an injection mode, the poppet is in the open position to permit a first portion of reductant to flow from the nozzle orifice and a second portion of reductant to return to the reductant source.

An automotive exhaust aftertreatment system for reducing effluents, such as nitrous oxides (NOx), in exhaust gasses passing through the system. The automotive exhaust aftertreatment system includes a dosing unit configured to inject primary and secondary reductant fluids into exhaust gasses based on various strategies to optimize operation of the system.

SMART DEF INJECTOR FOR LOW TEMPERATURE REDUCTANT DELIVERY

A DEF injector is connected to the exhaust system of a vehicle upstream of an SCR catalyst, and is further connected to the ECU or DCU. An exhaust temperature sensor and an exhaust mass flow rate sensor are connected to the ECU or DCU, and further connected to the DEF injector. The ECU or DCU controls the DEF injector based on exhaust temperature and exhaust mass flow rate when the exhaust temperature is above a certain threshold. The DEF injector itself, or a dedicated DEF injector controller, overrides and/or supplements the control logic located within the ECU or DCU to control the DEF injector to inject DEF at reduced rates when the exhaust temperature and/or the exhaust mass flow rate are lower than the threshold for DEF injection set by the ECU or DCU.

Temperature measuring device

Temperature measuring device for measuring the temperature of a member, the member including a component controlled by a control signal, active at most during at least one limited activity interval, and transmitted to the component via two wires, a temperature probe connected to the two wires, in parallel with the component, and a diode, connected between a terminal of the component and a terminal of the probe connected to the same wire, in order to allow the passage of a current in the component only in a first direction, the temperature measurement being performed by a current flowing in a second direction, opposite to the first direction, outside of the activity interval.

A diesel exhaust system includes multiple injectors for providing diesel exhaust fluid to an exhaust to reduce NO.sub.x emissions. Two or more injectors provide DEF to the exhaust system of an engine. In one mode, the injectors alternately inject DEF fluid. In one embodiment, the system includes a NO.sub.x sensor or a NO.sub.x model to assist in determining an amount of DEF that must In be provided. In a high DEF output operating mode, the DEF amount for one injector is output at a higher rate than the other injector such that deposits may form. After the injector at the higher rate of injection operates for a selected fraction of time, the other injector provides DEF fluid at the higher rate. Further, the system calculates an estimated developed liquid film mass for each injector output. When the estimated developed liquid film mass is not less than a parameter limit film mass, the system performs ATS regeneration.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING REDUCTANT DELIVERY PERFORMANCE

A system has a pump and an injector coupled to the pump. The system further comprises a controller coupled to the pump and the injector. The controller is structured to: determine a change of reductant flow relative to a change of pump rate of the pump; and generate a status command indicative of at least one of an under-restricted injector or an over-restricted injector in response to the determination of the change of reductant flow relative to the change of pump rate of the pump.

Engine and coolant system control systems and methods

A coolant control system of a vehicle includes a coolant pump that pumps coolant to a second radiator that is different than a first radiator that receives coolant from an engine of the vehicle. A diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) injector injects a DEF into an exhaust system and receives coolant output from the second radiator. A fuel heat exchanger transfers heat between coolant and fuel flowing therethrough. An engine control module is configured to determine a temperature of the DEF injector, control a duty cycle of the coolant pump, determine a vaporized condition of the coolant based on a DEF injector temperature, optionally further, in response to determining a vaporized condition of the coolant, implement a vapor purge by oscillating the duty cycle of the coolant pump, and optionally further identify a low-coolant condition of the coolant control system based on the vapor purges implemented during a time period.
