CONTROLLER FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A controller for an internal combustion engine includes a detector and a processor. The detector detects a combustion condition of a gas in a cylinder of the internal combustion engine. The processor is configured to calculate a target combustion condition. The processor is configured to calculate an ignition timing such that the combustion condition detected by the detector becomes equal to the target combustion condition via a feedback control with a gain. The processor is configured to calculate a fuel ratio in the gas in the cylinder. The processor is configured to determine the gain so as to increase as the fuel ratio decreases.

Method for determining the recycled air flow rate and the quantity of oxygen available at the inlet of an internal combustion engine cylinder
A method for determining the recycled air flow rate and oxygen quantity at the inlet of an internal combustion engine cylinder. The method involves measuring pressure in each cylinder during a compression phase and calculating the mass of gas in each cylinder based on the measured pressure, volume and temperature variation for an angular variation of the crankshaft, heat capacity, and heat losses. The method further involves determining the mass of gas in all cylinders over a full combustion cycle as well as in the recycled exhaust.
System and methods for diagnosing soot accumulation on an exhaust gas recirculation valve
Methods and systems are provided for determining changes in a flow area of an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve for EGR flow estimates due to soot accumulation on the EGR valve. In one example, a method includes indicating soot accumulation on the EGR valve based on a difference in EGR flow estimated with an intake oxygen sensor and with a pressure sensor coupled across the EGR valve. The determination of the difference of the EGR flow estimates may occur when the engine is not boosted.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING EGR RATE (EGR) OF A LOW PRESSURE EGR SYSTEM, SYSTEM AND VEHICLE
The present disclosure provides a method for controlling EGR rate of a low pressure EGR system, a system and a vehicle. The method calculates a molar concentration of water molecules of exhaust gas processed by EGR cooler, calculates a molar concentration of water molecules, obtains coefficient as to excess air, and calculates a molar volume ratio of air according to the coefficient. Under a maximum limit of humidity, an allowable EGR rate of the exhaust gas processed by the EGR cooler is determined and an allowable EGR rate of the mixed gas before entry into supercharger and/or compressor is also determined, a lower EGR rate between the two allowable rates is set as a maximum for application actual working conditions. The present disclosure solves a problem of condensation caused by an introduction of exhaust gas from the existing gasoline engine.
Method of estimating actual EGR ratio in EGR system and EGR system
A controller, in shifting the state of the EGR system from the EGR operating state to the EGR non-operating state at the time of performing the deceleration of the vehicle, calculates a provisional EGR ratio that is a provisional value of the current EGR ratio, estimates the provisional EGR ratio as the actual EGR ratio when a fore-and-aft differential pressure of the EGR valve is equal to or more than a predetermined value, performs correction to make the provisional EGR ratio smaller, and estimates the corrected provisional EGR ratio as the actual EGR ratio when the fore-and-aft differential pressure of the EGR valve is less than the predetermined value.
Engine and emissions control system
A system for coordinated control of an engine and associated components over various engine-modes of operation. The system may include an engine, one or more components controllable to adjust operation of the diesel engine, and a system controller. The system controller may be connected to the engine and the one or more components. The system controller may include a supervisory controller and one or more component controllers. The supervisory controller may receive system control variable set points and coordinate component control variable set points for the components to achieve the system control variable set points. The component controllers may control operation of the components to achieve the control variable set points for the components by setting manipulated variable set points for the components based on the component control variable set points and a model based non-linear dynamic inversion.
Work Machine, Power Unit, and Diesel Engine of Work Machine
Provided are a work machine, a power unit, and a diesel engine of a work machine that make it possible to reduce emitted noxious substances to levels below reference values stipulated by exhaust gas regulations in advanced countries and regions while also omitting or simplifying a post-treatment device. A hydraulic pump is driven by a diesel engine that limits maximum output torque in a low revolution speed region lower than a high revolution speed region including a rated revolution speed in such a manner that the maximum output torque has a characteristic of intermediate torque lower than torque of a maximum output horsepower point at the rated revolution speed, and a hydraulic actuator is driven by hydraulic fluid delivered from the hydraulic pump.
Engine feedback control system and method
This disclosure provides a system and method for controlling internal combustion engine system to reduce operation variations among plural engines. The system and method utilizes single-input-single-output (SISO) control in which a single operating parameter lever is selected from among exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) fraction and charge air mass flow (MCF), and a stored reference value associated with the selected lever is adjusted for an operating point in accordance with a difference between a measured emissions characteristic and a pre-calibrated reference value of the emissions characteristic for that operating point. Adjusting the selected operating parameter lever towards the theoretical pre-calibrated reference value of the operating parameter lever for each of plural operating points can reduce engine-to-engine variations in engine out emissions.
