Methods and systems for regenerating a particulate filter
Systems and methods for improving regeneration of a particulate filter located in an exhaust system of a vehicle are presented. In one example, the particulate filter is regenerated when the vehicle is expected to operate in a stationary electric power generating mode where the vehicle supplies electric power to off-board electric power consumers.
Control device and control method of internal combustion engine
A control device of an internal combustion engine including an electronic control unit configured to execute: a base injection amount calculation process of calculating a base value; an injection valve operation process of operating the fuel injection valve; a feedback process of correcting an injection amount in the injection valve operation process; and a determination process of determining whether or not the amount of fuel flowing into the cylinders other than fuel injected from the fuel injection valve is equal to or larger than a threshold value. When it is determined as a result of the determination that the amount of fuel flowing into the cylinders other than the fuel injected from the fuel injection valve is equal to or larger than the threshold value, the electronic control unit (does not execute the process of injecting fuel from the fuel injection valve with the feedback process stopped.

An exhaust system for vehicles and a control method for the system are disclosed. The exhaust system for vehicles includes: a first channel including a plurality of first unit flow paths formed by stacking a plurality of heat exchanger plates provided with heat exchanger fins; a second channel provided in parallel with the first channel and including a plurality of heat exchanger tubes respectively forming a plurality of second unit flow paths having a greater cross-sectional area than a cross-sectional area of the first unit flow paths; an opening and closing unit provided to selectively shield the first channel and the second channel; and a controller provided to control the opening and closing unit according to driving conditions of a vehicle so as to control flows of exhaust gas to the first channel and the second channel.
System and method for placeshifting media playback
Systems and methods of placeshifting media playback between two or more devices are provided. For example, a method for placeshifting media may include downloading onto a first device an index of files accessed or modified on a second device via a data storage server, at least one of the files being a media file played on the second device. The first device may display a user selectable list of the files on the first device before issuing a request for the media file to the data storage server. The data storage server may send the media file to the first device from the data storage server, and the first device may play back the media file where the second device left off.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR EMISSIONS REDUCTION
Methods and systems are provided for operating a branched exhaust assembly in a vehicle engine in order to increase catalyst efficiency and reduce engine emissions. In one example, a method may include, during a cold-start condition, flowing exhaust first through a three-way catalyst then through an underbody converter and then through a turbine, each exhaust component housed on different branches on the branched exhaust assembly. After catalyst activation, exhaust may flow first through the turbine, then through the underbody converter and then through the three-way catalyst, and during high engine load, exhaust may simultaneously flow through two branches of the branched exhaust assembly, partially bypassing the turbine.
Method and device for increased exhaust gas temperature in a diesel engine
The present invention relates to a method for increased exhaust gas temperature and emission reduction at partial loads in a diesel engine, wherein said engine comprises a cylinder with a reciprocating piston, a variable compression volume (VCR), and at least one exhaust valve and at least one inlet valve, the latter being equipped with variable valve timing (WT). According to the prevailing engine power requirement, an engine control system determines when to open and close said inlet valve, and the size of said compression volume in order to achieve a sufficiently elevated exhaust gas temperature so that correct exhaust gas purification can be achieved. The method is characterized in that the cylinder pressure during the expansion stroke is managed by the engine control system by means of the VCR and VVT functions, such that said pressure reaches atmospheric or sub atmospheric levels at or before bottom dead centre, at engine loads at or below 25% of the maximum engine load, whereby the inlet valve is opened to allow air to mix with the combustion gases. The invention also relates to a corresponding device and a diesel engine comprising said device.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EXHAUST TREATMENT
According to various embodiments, an exhaust treatment system includes a catalyst that is in direct contact with an exhaust stream, at least one sensor that senses a system parameter and produces one or more signals corresponding to the system parameter, and a controller that is configured to receive the one or more signals and control catalyst performance based on the one or more signals by regenerating the catalyst. Regenerating the catalyst includes increasing a temperature of the exhaust stream flowing to the catalyst and directing a reductant injector to adjust a flow rate of reductant being injected into the exhaust stream flowing to the catalyst.
AUTOMATED DRIVING VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM
A control system includes a sensor configured to detect information associated with an area surrounding a vehicle and an electronic control unit configured to control an automated driving of the vehicle. The electronic control unit includes a driving plan generation unit, a driving control unit, a regeneration control unit configured to control a process for regenerating an engine exhaust gas treatment apparatus, and a lane selection unit configured to predict an engine load associated with traveling in each lane of a plurality of lanes. The lane selection unit is also configured to select a lane which would cause an increase in engine load when the control for regenerating the exhaust gas treatment apparatus is being performed by the regeneration control unit. The control system is configured to cause the vehicle to be driven in the lane selected by the lane selection unit.
DECELERATION MANAGEMENT FOR DYNAMIC SKIP FIRE
A variety of methods and arrangements are described for operating an engine in a skip fire manner so that engine requirements, such as exhaust temperature, exhaust flow, torque and NVH, are met.
METHOD FOR OPERATING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE HAVING AN EXHAUST-GAS CATALYTIC CONVERTER
Operating an internal combustion engine (110) having at least two combustion chambers (1-6) and at least one exhaust-gas catalytic converter (130). In one example, a beginning of the load operation phase of the internal combustion engine (110) that adjoins a coasting phase is detected. A combustion chamber of the at least two combustion chambers (1-6) is determined as the first combustion chamber; and one of other the combustion chambers is selected as the purging combustion chamber. An exhaust gas of the purging combustion chamber is directed into the same exhaust-gas catalytic converter (130) as an exhaust gas of the first combustion chamber. A first fuel quantity is fed into the purging combustion chamber such that the first fuel quantity, prior to igniting the fuel in the purging combustion chamber, is discharged to be partially or fully non-combusted in the direction of the exhaust-gas catalytic convertor (130).
