Methods and systems of controlling a dual fuel engine with at least two banks of cylinders are provided. The method may include sensing at least one of temperatures of exhaust from the at least two banks and a pressure of an intake manifold of the at least two banks, and adjusting at least one of a gas flow, a charge flow, or an air flow to one of the at least two banks to balance one of exhaust temperatures of the at least two banks and intake manifold pressures of the at least two banks.
Control system of electronic-controlled oil-gas dual fuel engine
A control system of an electronic-controlled oil-gas dual fuel engine includes electronic control pumps, fuel gas injection electromagnetic valves, a fuel gas control device and a fuel oil control device. The fuel gas control device and the fuel oil control device are electrically connected with a control device of the engine. The fuel gas control device is electrically connected with the fuel gas injection electromagnetic valves and controls the opening time and the opening duration of each fuel gas injection electromagnetic valve installed on a pipeline between a natural gas rail and a cylinder cover air inlet channel of the engine. The fuel oil control device is electrically connected with the electronic control pumps, and controls the starting time and the operation duration of the electronic control pump, and the electronic control pumps are installed on a pipeline between an engine fuel oil rail and a cylinder cover fuel injector.
Modifying PFI to DI ratio to mitigate engine knocking
In accordance with exemplary embodiments, methods and systems are provided for controlling knocking for an engine of a vehicle having a plurality of different types of fuel injectors and a combustion chamber. In an exemplary embodiment, the system includes one or more sensors of the vehicle and a processor. The one or more sensors are configured to measure an intensity of engine knocking for the engine. The processor is coupled to the one or more sensors, and is configured to at least facilitate adjusting a fuel injection ratio of respective amounts of fuel provided by the plurality of different types of fuel injectors to the combustion chamber, based on the intensity of the engine knocking.
Method for operating an internal combustion engine, in particular a gas engine
The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine comprising: determining a first set point value of a volume of air to be taken into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine within one working cycle thereof by retrieving the first set point value from a first characteristic map stored in a memory device of an electronic computing device as a function of a current engine speed of the internal combustion engine and as a function of a torque to be provided by the internal combustion engine; and determining a second set point value by retrieving the second set point value from a second characteristic map stored in the memory device of the electronic computing device as a function of a current engine speed of the internal combustion engine and as a function of a current volume of air supplied to the combustion chamber.
DYNAMICALLY VARYING AN AMOUNT OF SLIPPAGE OF A TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH PROVIDED BETWEEN AN ENGINE AND A TRANSMISSION OF A VEHICLE
A system and method for dynamically varying an amount slippage of a Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) provided between an engine and a transmission of a vehicle in response to non-powertrain factors. By varying a slippage output signal, the amount of TCC slippage between the engine and the transmission can be adjusted. Small amounts of slippage, relative to large amounts of slippage, provide (a) improved vehicle fuel economy, but (b) induce more powertrain noise and vibration in the vehicle cabin. By dynamically adjusting the slippage, a tradeoff between improved fuel economy vs. a satisfying driver experience can be realized.
Adaptive control of motor vehicle powertrain
Embodiments of the present invention provide a vehicle having different operating modes, and for each such mode a different characteristic of output torque and accelerator pedal position. The rise of output torque in response to a propulsion request is more or less delayed according to the instant operating mode. The invention provides for blending of the response to a propulsion request so that the delay is progressively varied between a source and target operating mode.
CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The engine controller includes storage which stores a fuel efficiency operation line for optimizing engine fuel consumption and a booming noise avoidance operation line for keeping the booming noise below a certain limit. The operation point region where the booming noise exceeding the certain limit is generated is a booming noise region. The fuel efficiency operation line passes through the booming noise region. In contrast, the booming noise avoidance operation line does not pass through the booming noise region. The controller controls the engine according to the booming noise avoidance operation line. The controller controls the engine according to the fuel efficiency operation line for a predetermined period after determining that the driver intends to change the speed of the vehicle.
Four-stroke internal combustion engine and method of controlling timings of an exhaust camshaft and an intake camshaft
The disclosure concerns an internal combustion engine comprising an exhaust camshaft, an intake camshaft, a turbocharger, and a control system. The turbocharger comprises a compressor. A timing of the exhaust camshaft and a timing of the intake camshaft are controllable by the control system, which is configured to: store a compressor map related to the compressor, store a reference area within the compressor map, and determine at least two parameters. In response to the at least two parameters indicating that a current operational point of the compressor is outside the reference area, the control system changes the timing of the exhaust camshaft to advance closing of the exhaust valve, and the timing of the intake camshaft to delay opening of the intake valve.
DEVICE FOR OPERATING AN INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
A device is provided for operating an internal-combustion engine of a motor vehicle having a power actuator and a control unit. The control unit is configured for adjusting the power actuator as a function of a load demand on the basis of a displacement of the driving pedal by the driver, wherein, during an efficiency mode demanded and activated by the driver, independently of the displacement of the driving pedal, a rotational-speed-dependent consumption-optimal first load demand, and as a function of the displacement of the driving pedal, a second load demand, are determined. The control unit is configured for adjusting the power actuator while taking into account the determined first and second load demands.

A control value calculation part includes an in-cylinder state estimation part that estimates a state to which the cylinder belongs between a plurality of PM-PN generation states. The plurality of PM-PN generation states are states in which a particulate matter is easily generated as compared with the other state, and are different from each other in a cause to generate the particulate matter. Further, in a case where it is determined that an operation state of an engine is a PM-PN exhaust state, the control value calculation part calculates a control value of an actuator in such a way to eliminate the PM-PN generation state according to the PM-PN generation state to which the state in the cylinder belongs.
