A high-pressure pump has a metering valve and a valve stopper. The stopper has a regulation portion which an end surface of the valve is brought into contact with. An outer diameter of the regulation portion is equal to an outer diameter of the outer peripheral surface of the valve. A cylindrical sleeve is disposed around the regulation portion. When the end surface of the valve is in contact with the regulation portion, the sleeve covers a tapered surface of the valve.

HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM

A high pressure fuel pump includes: a pump body that forms a suction passage and a pressurizing chamber and slidably supports a plunger; and a control valve that opens a connection between the suction passage and the pressurizing chamber in a suction stroke, during which the plunger is driven toward a suction side for suctioning fuel into the pressurizing chamber, while the control valve controls closing timing, at which the connection between the suction passage and the pressurizing chamber is closed by the control valve in a delivery stroke, during which the plunger is driven toward a delivery side for delivering the fuel out of the pressurizing chamber. The pump body forms a release passage that is communicated with the suction passage. The release passage relieves the fuel, which is pressurized by the plunger, from the pressurizing chamber before the closing timing during the delivery stroke.

Adjusting pump volume commands for direct injection fuel pumps

Methods are provided for controlling a direct injection fuel pump, wherein a solenoid spill valve is energized and de-energized according to certain conditions. A control strategy is needed to operate the direct injection fuel pump outside regions where pump operation may be variable and inaccurate, where the regions may be characterized by smaller pump commands as well as smaller displacement volumes. To maintain a suitable range of pump commands and displacements while operating outside the low accuracy regions, a method is proposed that involves clipping calculated pump commands when the calculated pump commands lie within the low accuracy regions.

Systems and methods for performing prognosis of fuel delivery systems

An engine fuel delivery system includes a fuel pump having a pumping chamber to increase fuel pressure and a closeable inlet valve, and a fuel rail to communicate pressurized fuel received from the fuel pump to at least one engine cylinder. The engine fuel delivery system also includes a controller programmed to issue a control signal to periodically close the inlet valve to generate a setpoint fuel pressure within the pumping chamber. The controller is also programmed to adjust a control signal gain value in response to deviation in an outlet fuel pressure relative to the setpoint fuel pressure. The controller is further programmed to issue a warning message in response to the control signal gain being adjusted by more than a predetermined threshold from a calibrated gain value.

HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL SUPPLY PUMP INCLUDING AN ELECTROMAGNETICALLY DRIVEN INTAKE VALVE

A high-pressure fuel supply pump including an electromagnetically driven intake valve is configured such that a pressure equalizing hole is provided in the valve stopper positioned between the valve and a pressurizing chamber. The pressure equalization hole connects a spring storage space, provided between a valve and a valve stopper, with a surrounding fluid passage. The high-pressure fuel supply pump is further configured such that an opening of the pressure equalizing hole at the spring storage chamber side is open at a position at the inner side of a diameter of the spring. Since the pressure in the pressurizing chamber can be introduced into the inner side of the spring without traversing the spring, the unstable behavior of the spring or the valve due to the introduced pressure eliminated. Since the force applied to the valve when the valve closes is stabilized, the closing timing of the valve is stable.

Method and device for operating a pressure reservoir, in particular for common rail injection systems in automobile engineering

A method and to a device for operating a pressure reservoir, where during a compression phase in a pump chamber, a pump periodically increases the pressure of a fluid located therein, and by means of a discharge valve controlled by differential pressure fluid under high pressure is allowed to be introduced from the pump chamber into the pressure reservoir. During a decompression phase following a compression phase, fluid from a fluid reservoir is introduced into the pump chamber by means of a controllable intake valve. In order to be able also to operate the pressure reservoir without a high pressure measurement directly in the pressure reservoir, the fluid pressure in the pressure reservoir is ascertained by means of a pressure determination in the pump chamber. The pressure determination takes place indirectly, monitoring of the intake valve in the decompression phase.

DIGITAL INLET VALVE

A digital inlet valve is the complementary assembly of an armature module, a body module and an actuation module enabling direct control over an air gap between a magnetic armature and a pole piece body.

Fuel pressure control device

A fuel pressure control device determines whether it is during a descending period of a plunger descending or an ascending period of the plunger ascending, and puts a first drive mechanism and a second drive mechanism in an energized state during the descending period and in a non-energized state during the ascending period, when there is a pressure reduction request to lower a fuel pressure in a high-pressure passage.
