Blade retainer for gas turbine engine
A blade retainer adapted for use in a gas turbine engine is configured to block axial movement of a blade. The blade retainer includes a first brace, a second brace, and a web that extends between the first brace and the second brace. The blade retainer is configured to block axial movement of a root of the blade out of a blade receiver slot.
Vibration-damping system for turbomachine blade(s) on spacer adjacent blade stage
A vibration-damping system for turbomachine blade(s) in a turbomachine is provided. Each turbomachine blade includes a platform having a radially inner surface. The system includes a spacer axially adjacent the platform of at least one turbomachine blade in the turbomachine, e.g., adjacent a turbomachine blade stage. The spacer includes a body. A damping element coupler is on the body of the spacer, and a vibration-damping element is configured to couple to the damping element coupler. The vibration-damping element and the damping element coupler are disposed to cause the vibration-damping element to engage the radially inner surface of the platform of the turbomachine blade(s) to dampen vibration of the turbomachine blade(s), e.g., during operation of the turbomachine.
ROTOR ARRANGEMENT FOR A ROTOR OF A GAS TURBINE
A rotor arrangement for a rotor of a gas turbine includes at least one rotor disk with attachment slots for carrying rotor blades and an annular groove having an annular opening towards the outward direction; and rotor blades having an airfoil and a blade root and assembled in an attachment slot. Each of the assembled blade roots have a root extension with a root groove. The root groove faces the annular groove when the rotor blade is assembled in the attachment slot. For each assembled rotor blade a locking element is provided, the locking element engaging the annular groove of the rotor disk and the root groove of the respective rotor blade. Preferably all locking elements are embodied as a locking sheet metal strip, which has two bended tongues embracing the respective root extension.
Platform for an airfoil of a gas turbine engine
An assembly for a gas turbine engine includes an airfoil that includes an airfoil section that extends from a root section. The airfoil section extends between a leading edge and a trailing edge in a chordwise direction and extends between a tip portion and the root section in a radial direction. The airfoil section defines a pressure side and a suction side separated in a thickness direction. A platform is dimensioned to receive a retention pin to mount the platform to a rotatable hub. The platform includes a plurality of composite layers that define an internal cavity. A filler includes a stacked composite structure in the internal cavity that extends between the plurality of composite layers.
Joining method
A method of friction welding a first component to a second component, the method having the steps of: rotating the first component relative to the second component about a rotation axis; and bringing the first component into contact with the second component; wherein, while the first component and the second component are in contact, a first average force is applied during a first stage of the friction welding process and a second average force is applied during a second stage of the friction welding process; and the second average force is different from the first average force.
Turbmachine fan disc
A disc able to support platforms and blades of a fan, and including an external surface having a succession of grooves for receiving the fan blades and teeth interposed between the grooves to support the fan platforms, an upstream face of the disc, and a plurality of radial protrusions disposed radially around the axis of the disc on the upstream face of the disc, and able to be fastened to a fan platform retaining flange, the protrusions being offset radially toward the interior of the disc relative to the grooves of the disc, and being disposed circumferentially between two teeth of the disc.
Gas turbine engine fan
A gas turbine engine includes a core turbine engine and a fan mechanically coupled to the core turbine engine. The fan includes a plurality of fan blades, each fan blade defining a base and an inner end along a radial direction of the gas turbine engine. The fan also includes a hub covering the base of each of the plurality of fan blades. Further, the fan includes one or more bearings for supporting rotation of the plurality of fan blades. The one or more bearings define a fan bearing radius along a radial direction of the gas turbine engine. Similarly, the hub defines a hub radius along the radial direction of the gas turbine engine. The ratio of the hub radius to the fan bearing radius is less than about three, providing for desired packaging of the various components within the fan of the gas turbine engine.
ELECTRIC AIRCRAFT PROPULSION SYSTEM
An electric propulsion system for an aircraft includes a nacelle and an electric machine. The electric machine includes a stator positioned in the nacelle, and a rotor and fan assembly positioned in a primary flow path through the nacelle. The rotor and fan assembly includes a cylindrical fan shroud, a plurality of rotor magnets positioned on an outer surface of the fan shroud, and a fan hub mounted on a central support shaft via one or more bearings. A plurality of fan blades extend between an inner surface of the fan shroud and an outer surface of the fan hub. The rotor magnets may be loaded in compression in a radial direction when the rotor and fan assembly is at rest. The fan blades may be pre-stressed in a radial direction when the rotor and fan assembly is at rest.
Turbine engine rotor lock
A turbine engine rotor lock, in particular for a turbojet fan, adapted to retain a blade axially relative to a disk of the rotor, the lock including a composite body including a woven fiber structure embedded in a matrix; and a damper pad made of elastomer and fastened to the composite body.
Fibrous texture for producing a fan blade made of composite material
A fibrous texture to form the fibrous reinforcement of a turbomachine blade made of composite material, the texture being made in one piece and having a three-dimensional weaving, and includes blade root, blade airfoil and blade support portions.
