Self-locking fastener system and process
10562158 · 2020-02-18 · ·

A threaded fastener, inserted into a hole in materials to be joined, receives a free-running collar (nut) with out-of-round duplex barrels. Spring-loaded twin sockets cradle the barrels and a restraining polygon key extends through the sockets and into a recess in the small face on the pin tail. Installation advances in tandem sequence; tightening before swaging. A machined groove with flat bottom and side rising at about 20 degrees from axial forms a boundary and partly reshapes crests from parallel to angular. Such inclination keeps the collar connected to the cavity of the larger of twin sockets throughout tangential tightening, rise of torque, displacement of crest material, recoil of the smaller socket on the end barrel, cessation of collar rotation and plunging torque. When recoil ends, radial torque on the smaller socket crushes and locks barrel material into underlying left hand helical troughs that interrupt the last few pin threads.

ASSEMBLY METHOD FOR A CONNECTOR

The present invention relates to an assembly method for a connector, in particular for a high-voltage connector, having an electrical conductor and an electric contact, which assembly method comprises the following steps: providing a screw having a first drive and a second drive which is formed opposite the first drive; establishing a connection with play between the electrical conductor and the electric contact by means of the screw by the screw being inserted respectively into a passage hole in the electrical conductor and in the electric contact and being turned in a first direction by way of its first drive; tightening the connection between the electrical conductor and the electric contact by the screw being turned in a second direction, which is opposite the first direction, by way of its second drive. The present invention further relates to a connector and also to a screw.

Quick connect mechanism for a draw stud assembly

A draw stud assembly for use with a knockout punch tool having a movable piston, includes a connector attachable to the movable piston, a draw stud, and a quick connect mechanism. The quick connect mechanism includes mating first and second thread segments on the connector and the draw stud, respectively. The connector and the draw stud are movable between a first relative orientation where the mating first and second thread segments are misaligned to permit axial movement between the connector and the draw stud, and a second relative orientation where the mating first and second thread segments are aligned and engaged to inhibit axial movement between the connector and the draw stud.

The present invention relates to a fastener (10) for a non-threaded bore (50), which fastener comprises: a first member (12) with a head (18), an externally threaded shank (20) extending from the head, and an axially extending projection (22) at the opposite end (24) of the shank compared to the head; and a second at least partly deformable member (14) attached to the axially extending projection, wherein the second member comprises a plurality of longitudinally extending outer ridges (40a-d). The present invention also relates to a method of mounting a first object (46) to a second object (48) using such a fastener, and to a method of manufacturing a fastener (10).

DISPLAY DEVICE
20190289727 · 2019-09-19 ·

A display device including a frame, a pushing piece and a substrate is provided. The frame has a supporting platform and a through hole, and the supporting platform has a supporting surface, and the through hole penetrates through the supporting platform from the supporting surface. The pushing piece having a pushing surface is movably installed in the through hole. The pushing surface is close to the supporting surface while the pushing piece is in the through hole. The substrate is installed on the frame to cover the pushing surface and be connected to the supporting surface. When the pushing piece moves relatively to the through hole and protrudes from the supporting surface, the pushing surface pushes the substrate and separates the substrate from the supporting surface.

Jamb adjuster
10352089 · 2019-07-16 ·

A jack screw-type fastener with a head defining an interior aperture with a Phillips pattern in the top and in communication with a central channel sized and shaped to receive a fastener therethrough for structurally reinforcing the window jamb of a window frame. The jamb adjuster includes a series of oversized and narrowly oriented threads relative to commercially available threaded fasteners (about 50% larger than average), frictionally engaging a greater ratio of the window frame wall depth than conventional. In use, the jamb adjuster is a self-tapping screw member that renders unnecessary a receiver, reducing component cost and structural degradation, and instead displacing a portion of the window frame material, for example vinyl, during insertion, causing a more structurally secure attachment to the window frame. The jamb adjuster also provides a more robust attachment mechanism for vital weather stripping than other fasteners or adhesive as known in the art.
