Clutch for a winch or hoist

A clutch comprises an input shaft, an output shaft and a biasing member. The biasing member is arranged to provide a biasing force that allows torque transfer from the input shaft to the output shaft via one or more input friction plates and one or more output friction plates. Rotation of the output shaft may cause the biasing force to vary to adjust the maximum torque setting of the clutch during reeling-in or reeling-out of a winch cable around a winch drum. A retainer may be included in the clutch which retains the biasing member in operative connection with the output shaft and translates axially relative to the input shaft upon rotation of the output shaft. The axial translation may cause the biasing force to vary by varying the compression of the biasing member.

WORK VEHICLE DRIVE ASSEMBLY WITH ELECTRIC MOTOR OVERSPEED PROTECTION

A drive assembly for a work vehicle includes an electric motor configured to rotate a driving shaft and a gear train configured to transmit torque between the driving shaft and a driven shaft. The drive assembly also includes a clutch member having an engaged position and a disengaged position. The clutch member is configured to allow torque transfer between the driving shaft and the driven shaft when in the engaged position. The clutch member is configured to prevent torque transfer between the driving shaft and the driven shaft when in the disengaged position. The clutch member is biased toward the disengaged position to prevent torque transfer in a direction from the driven shaft toward the driving shaft in an overspeed condition of the drive assembly.

Torque limiter

A torque limiter that enables setting a larger torque capacity although being compact and easy to incorporate into a power transmission mechanism, is provided. A torque limiter is incorporated into a power transmission mechanism for transmitting power from a starter motor to a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. The torque limiter includes a driven gear for receiving power from the starter motor and a transmission gear for transmitting power. The driven gear and the transmission gear are coaxially disposed in a relatively rotatable manner. The driven gear and the transmission gear are configured to transmit power therebetween via a friction member. The friction member has a circular disc shape with an outer diameter that is larger than an outer diameter of the driven gear.

Clutch assembly and rotating system including the same

A clutch assembly includes a first shaft extending along and rotatable about a first shaft axis, and a second shaft extending along and rotatable about a second shaft axis that is parallel with the first shaft axis. The clutch assembly also includes a first friction component coupled to and rotatable with the first shaft, and a second friction component coupled to and rotatable with the second shaft. The clutch assembly additionally includes a band clutch assembly. The band clutch assembly includes a retaining band disposed about the first and second friction components, and a retaining component coupled to the retaining band. The retaining band is engageable with the first and second friction components, and the retaining band and the retaining component are rotatable with the first and second shafts during rotation of the first and second shafts.

Winch or hoist system with clutch adjustment

A clutch comprises an input shaft, an output shaft, a biasing member and a plunger. The biasing member is arranged to provide a biasing force that allows torque transfer from the input shaft to the output shaft via one or more input friction plates and one or more output friction plates. Axial displacement of the plunger relative to the output shaft may cause the biasing force to vary to adjust the maximum torque setting of the clutch during reeling-in or reeling-out of a winch cable around a winch drum. A winch assembly may be provided that includes an arm in operable connection with a winch drum. The arm is displaced as the effective radius of the drum varies during reeling in or reeling out. Displacement of the arm can be communicated to the plunger to provide the axial displacement thereof.

AIRCRAFT PROPELLER DRIVE SYSTEM

An aircraft propeller drive system has a gear to be driven by an engine and having a first plurality of teeth. A torsion bar has a first end driven by the gear and a second end rotatable relative to the first end about a torsion axis by a torsion angle. An output shaft is driven by the second end and is adapted for connection to a propeller. A clutch has a driven member rotationally fixed to the output shaft and a driving member having a second plurality of teeth. The first and second pluralities of teeth engage each other when a variation in the torsion angle from a mean torsion angle is greater than a predetermined angle. Torque is transferred between the gear and the output shaft via the clutch when the first and second pluralities of teeth engage each other.

A damping pulley assembly is disclosed including a pulley with an outer flange and a fixed pulley plate. A floating pulley clutch plate is located within and engaged with the outer flange. Circumferentially spaced apart leaf springs are connected to a pulley hub. Second ends of the leaf springs are connected to a driven hub that includes a fixed hub plate. Floating clutch plates are located between the fixed pulley plate and the fixed hub plate, which are biased toward the fixed pulley plate by the leaf springs so that the clutch plates contact one another and/or the fixed hub or pulley plates.

Torque limiting clutch for use with robot arm

Technology is provided for a torque limiting clutch for use with a robot arm. The torque limiting clutch includes a hub including a hub flange and a clamp plate slideably mounted on the hub. A drive member is rotatably mounted on the hub between the hub flange and the clamp plate. The drive member includes a plurality of gear teeth disposed around an annular clutch disc. A first friction disc is positioned between the hub flange and the annular clutch disc, and a second friction disc is positioned between the clamp plate and the annular clutch disc. A plurality of clamp fasteners extend through the hub flange and engage the clamp plate to exert a clamping force operative to urge the clamp plate toward the hub flange, thereby pressing the friction discs against the annular clutch disc in order to transfer torque between the gear teeth and the hub.
