A braking band of a disc brake disc has two mutually facing plates having inner surfaces, directly or indirectly facing and delimiting a gap, outer surfaces having flat and opposite circumferential portions which form braking surfaces, and plate bodies having predetermined plate thickness. The plates are joined to each other by connecting elements shaped as columns or ribs which project from one plate towards an opposite plate in the form of bridges which connect the plates. At least one of the plates has at least one shaped pin projecting from a plate into the gap reaching the opposite plate, forming at least one localized narrowing of the gap and a thickening of the plate body, creating a localized increase of the predetermined plate thickness. At least one shaped pin extends from a first connecting element to an adjacent connecting element, connecting the connecting elements, and along a circumferential direction connecting at least two adjacent connecting elements.

Ventilated braking band, assembly of ventilated brake disc and method of ventilation

A ventilated braking band for brake disc having a first plate and a second plate; the first plate has at least a first inner surface, and the second plate has a second inner surface. The first inner surface defines a first inner surface plane or level (z1-z1) coinciding with said first inner surface, and the said second inner surface defines a second inner surface plane or level (z2-z2) coinciding with the second inner surface. The ventilated braking band has connecting elements which extend in an axial direction between the first inner surface and the second inner surface. The ventilated braking band has at least one bulge. The at least one bulge is partially interpenetrated with: at least one portion of the first foot, thus forming a structural continuity with the first foot, thus avoiding the first inner surface level from being reached; or at least one portion of a second foot, thus forming a structural continuity with the second foot, thus avoiding the second inner surface level from being reached.

In a brake-disc intermediate product, a corrugated portion is molded using an upper mold and a lower mold. The brake-disc intermediate product is set in a mold, the mold has a slope corresponding to the corrugated portion, and an angular portion formed along the outer circumferential edge of the corrugated portion is in contact with the slope in a state where the brake-disc intermediate product is set in the mold. The angular portion in contact with the slope is deformed by pressing the brake-disc intermediate product in a direction of the mold, to mold a chamfer portion. The slope is formed so that a chamfering angle formed with respect to an inner bottom surface of the mold is larger at a portion in contact with the concave portion than a chamfering angle at a portion in contact with the convex portion.

Electric Vehicle Drum Brake Dust Evacuation and Cooling Concept

A drum brake assembly for use with a wheel end electric drive motor arrangement can generate brake dust, which may accumulate on the electric motor and cause heat retention problems that are detrimental to motor performance and longevity. These issues are addressed by providing an assembly including a support attachable to a vehicle axle element, brake shoes pivotally mountable on the support, and a wheel spindle interconnected with one end of the axle element. A wheel hub is rotatable around the spindle, and an electric motor unit is disposed between an end of the axle element and the spindle to produce rotation of the hub relative to the axle element. A brake drum is securable to the hub for rotation with the hub relative to the spindle by way of the electric motor unit. The brake drum includes a circumferential perimeter wall overlying the brake shoes, and a fan rotor is interconnected with that wall for rotation together with the drum and the wheel hub relative to the spindle. A perforated dust shield is attachable to the support on an axial side of the brake shoes opposite the fan rotor, such that, during vehicle operation, air drawn by blades on the fan rotor through openings in a wall of the brake drum carries debris out through perforations in the dust shield and away from the wheel end motor and brake assembly. A vehicle including the assembly mentioned and a process of ventilating that assembly are also discussed.

ROTOR CLIP FOR BRAKE ASSEMBLY

A clip for a rotor disk of a brake assembly, the clip formed of sheet metal to fit in a slot between, and to, ends of adjacent rotor lugs around the periphery of the rotor disk, wherein the clip is shaped to have a main body portion that is substantially rectangular in form and shaped and sized to fit, in use, onto an inner peripheral surface defined by the slot between the ends of two adjacent lugs, and to extend across the length of the slot from a first main body portion edge to a second opposite main body portion edge; and wherein the clip further comprises first and second end portions that extend from the respective ends of the main body portion at an angle, wherein each end portion comprises an outwardly protruding section and an end clip portion.

BRAKE DISC FOR RAILWAY VEHICLE

Disclosed is a brake disc for a railway vehicle including: a disc plate portion with a sliding portion in a surface; and a through hole that penetrates the disc plate portion from a front surface to a back surface of the disc plate portion, in which a bolt for fastening the disc plate portion to a wheel of the railway vehicle is inserted. An inclined surface is formed at an edge of an opening of the through hole at a front side of the disc plate portion, and the inclined surface extends larger in a circumferential direction of the disc plate portion than in a radial direction of the disc plate portion.
