Rotor drive key assembly

In some examples, an assembly includes a rotor drive key configured to fit around a wheel boss defined by a wheel of a vehicle. The rotor drive key includes a support member. The assembly further comprises a fastener configured to extend through the wheel boss and the support member in a substantially axial direction of the wheel when the rotor drive key is fit around the wheel boss. A fastening member is configured to engage with a portion of the fastener extending beyond the support member.

The pair of front wheels are positioned forward of the pair of rear wheels in the longitudinal direction.

The present invention provides a wheel hub for a vehicle, including: a) a wheel axle defining an axis of rotation for the wheel; b) a hub body rotatably coupled to the axle for rotation about the axis of rotation, the hub body defining an internal cavity; and, c) a braking assembly, including: i) at least one first annular plate disposed within the internal cavity about the axle, the at least one first annular plate rotatably fixed with respect to the hub body so as to rotate therewith about the axis of rotation; ii) at least one second annular plate disposed within the internal cavity about the axle and adjacent to the at least one first annular plate, the at least one second annular plate rotatably fixed with respect to the axle, and at least one of the first and second annular plates being slidably movable within at least part of the internal cavity; and, iii) an actuator disposed within the internal cavity and configured in use, to cause an axial load to be applied to the slidably movable plate to thereby cause the at least one first and second annular plates to frictionally engage thereby applying a braking load between the hub body and wheel axle so as to brake the wheel of the vehicle.

A brake (10) includes a housing (12) formed from a first housing portion (14) capable of receiving a second housing portion (16). The first housing portion (14) houses a piston (18) and a plurality of springs (20), and the second housing portion (16) houses an alternating arrangement of discs (52) for enacting a braking function. The second housing portion (16) further includes torque pin holes (80) for receiving torque pins (82) therein. Each torque pin (82) is secured with a plug (84) to secure stationary discs (54A, 54B, 54C) in place. The stationary discs (54A, 54B, 54C) have extending ears (74) positioned between torque pin grooves (76), which further receive the torque pins (82).

The invention relates to a bar (10) for a braked aircraft wheel (103), the bar being for fitting to a rim (104) of the wheel in order to drive rotor brake disks (106b) in rotation. The bar comprises a substantially rectilinear body (11) having at least one segment (14) including two wings (15) connected together by a core (16) and intended to co-operate with the rotor disks. At least one brace element (17) connects a free edge of each of the wings to a central portion of the core.

Both the first end and the second end are configured to be coupled to at least one of the wheel and a torque bar. Further, the body includes opposing longitudinal sides configured to respectively engage and secure a respective heat shield segment of the segmented annular heat shield. Also, the retainer includes a cover coupled to and extending over at least the body, with an air gap being defined between the body and the cover.

Brake disc insert with bridge member

In some examples, a drive insert for a drive slot of a brake disc includes a first insert member configured to cover a first surface of the drive slot, a second insert member configured to cover a second surface of the drive slot, and a bridge member configured to extend between the first insert member and the second insert member. The bridge member is configured to limit movement of the first insert member and the second insert member in a tangential direction of the brake disc when the bridge member extends from the first insert member to the second insert member. In some examples, the bridge member is configured to be in compression between the first insert member and the second insert member.

In some examples, a drive insert comprises a first clip, a second clip, and a retainer. The first clip is configured to be slidable over a first surface adjacent to a first drive slot of a brake disc in a first tangential direction of the brake disc. The second clip is configured to be slidable over a second surface adjacent to a second drive slot of the brake disc in a second tangential direction of the brake disc. The retainer is configured to be slidable over the first clip and the second clip when the first clip and second clip are positioned one the brake disc secure the first and second clips to the brake disc.

A wheel and brake assembly comprising: a stator; a rotating assembly mounted around and rotatable relative to the stator about an axis A; a torque tube in fixed engagement with the stator; a stack of brake disks mounted about the torque tube, the stack of brake disks comprising alternate rotor disks and stator disks, the stator disks attached to the torque tube and the rotor disks attached to the rotating assembly; a brake actuator configured to, in response to a brake command, apply a pressing force on the stack of brake disks to cause frictional engagement between the rotor disks and the stator disks such that the stator disks prevent the rotor disks and, hence the rotating assembly, from rotating relative to the torque tube.
