Automatic Slack Adjuster Torque Limiting Link
20220186801 · 2022-06-16 ·

A self-adjusting automatic slack adjuster for reducing slack in the brake of a vehicle includes an adjuster link having a resilient portion. When a brake application force being applied to the slack adjuster exceeds a level that could result in brake application linkage damage as a result of the slack adjuster's slack adjustment mechanism having reached a travel limit, the resilient portion of the adjuster link permits the axial length of the adjuster link to change to accommodate the high brake application force in order to minimize or preclude damage to the brake application linkage.

Brake assembly having a sensor

A brake assembly having a sensor assembly that is received inside a shaft of a wear adjuster mechanism. The wear adjuster mechanism may be at least partially received inside a piston that may be rotatable about the axis and may be at least partially received in a tappet. The sensor may provide a signal that is indicative of rotation of the shaft.

Method for Adjusting the Slack of a Brake Assembly and Brake Assembly

A method adjusts the slack of a brake assembly having a brake disc, a brake pad, an actuator with an output shaft driven in a forward direction to bring the brake pad and brake disc into frictional engagement defining a braking position and a reverse direction to disengage the brake pad and brake disc and to move the brake pad into a rest position, and a slack adjuster for adjusting a predetermined axial slack distance between the brake pad and the brake disc. The brake pad is moved from the rest position in the reverse direction into a predetermined reference position, and an adjustment of the axial slack distance between the brake pad and brake disc is initiated.

SLACK ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY FOR HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLES
20230134041 · 2023-05-04 ·

A slack adjuster assembly for use in a heavy-duty vehicle drum brake system, the slack adjuster assembly comprising a slack adjuster, an inboard sealing assembly, and a sensor arrangement. The slack adjuster is mounted on an inboard end of a camshaft of the drum brake system. The inboard sealing assembly sealingly engages with an inboard side of the slack adjuster. The sensor arrangement measures rotation of the camshaft and is at least partially disposed within the inboard sealing assembly to protect the sensor arrangement from impact damage, water, chemicals, and debris.
