Optical Resolution Reduction Elements

A controller based apparatus mounted on the ceiling of a room to control the lighting level of a space includes an image sensor/detector for capturing spatial data, ambient light data, and images and an optical element which allows sufficient light to pass through such that the image sensor can collect sufficient data to provide the controller in order to extract motion events, occupancy data, and/or ambient light readings while maintaining the privacy of individuals by reducing the optical resolution of the image sensor such that fine features, such as facial features or other identifiable features of people or objects, cannot be recorded or stored.

FLOW MANAGEMENT LIGHT

Techniques for creating, configuring, and employing flow management lights are presented. Such light(s) can comprise or be associated with a flow management component (FMC) that can employ sensors to monitor environmental conditions in a defined area of people or vehicle traffic, and can enhance its function to manage flow and security of the people or vehicle traffic. Such light(s) can be installed in a defined area. FMC can monitor and determine a context associated with the defined area, and can adjust light output or another parameter(s) of one or more lights based on the determined context. Over time, FMC can learn contexts of people or vehicle traffic at various times and adjust operations accordingly for the particular context at a specific time. FMC can control operations of such light(s) in relation to enhancing security and safety of people or traffic, business and sales operations, and other objectives.

Apparatus for providing semantic information and a method of operating the same

An apparatus including a display surface for presenting an image of a user; a light emitting portion for using light to convey semantic information to the user; a sensor for measuring the position of the user relative to the light emitting portion; and a control unit to control the light emitting portion based on the measured position of the user relative to the light emitting portion so as to minimize an effect of the light conveying the semantic information provided by the light emitting portion on the presented image of the user.

SHADING AND ILLUMINATION SYSTEM

A shading and illumination system includes a shading device for shading viewing openings, an illumination device for illuminating a room, an external sensor for detecting an external parameter acting on the room, an internal sensor for detecting a 3D image of the room, a position of a person present in the room in the 3D image, and a viewing direction of the person, and a control unit for actuating the shading device and the illumination device. The shading device and the illumination device are actuatable depending on the values measured by the external sensor and by the internal sensor. A light parameter acting on the person is determinable depending on the detected viewing direction, on the detected position, on the 3D image of the room, and on the external parameter. The shading device and/or the illumination device are/is actuatable depending on the light parameter acting on the person.
