A controller for a hybrid electric vehicle including an internal combustion engine is provided. The internal combustion engine includes a filter arranged in an exhaust passage collect particulate matter from exhaust gas. The controller executes a first deceleration control process, a second deceleration control process, and a selection process. The first deceleration control process uses a fuel cutoff process when deceleration of the hybrid electric vehicle is required. The second deceleration control process does not use the fuel cutoff process when deceleration of the hybrid electric vehicle is required. The selection process selects execution of the second deceleration control process when a PM deposition amount is greater than or equal to a threshold value and selects execution of the first deceleration control process when the PM deposition amount is less than the threshold value.
CONTROL APPARATUS FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine performs a first acquisition process for acquiring a first index value corresponding to an integrated amount of intake air during a performance of the fuel cutoff process, and a cancellation process for cancelling the fuel cutoff process when the first index value becomes equal to or larger than a first predetermined value during the performance of the fuel cutoff process. Besides, the control apparatus performs a second acquisition process for acquiring a second index value corresponding to an elapsed time from the end of the fuel cutoff process to the subsequent start of the fuel cutoff process, and a change process for making the first predetermined value smaller when the second index value is small in starting the fuel cutoff process than when the second index value is large in starting the fuel cutoff process.
Misfire determination apparatus and method for internal combustion engine
A CPU determines that misfires are occurring in a cylinder subject to determination of whether misfires are occurring when a value obtained by subtracting a rotation fluctuation amount ΔT30[n−2] from a rotation fluctuation amount ΔT30[n] is greater than or equal to a determination threshold. The rotation fluctuation amount ΔT30[n] is subject to the misfire determination. The rotation fluctuation amount ΔT30[n−2] is 360° CA earlier than the rotation fluctuation amount ΔT30[n]. When stopping fuel supply to a cylinder #1 and determining whether misfires are occurring in cylinder #4, the CPU determines whether misfires are occurring after executing a correcting process that corrects the determination threshold to a second determination threshold Δth2, which is less than a first determination threshold Δth1.
CONTROL APPARATUS FOR HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE
A CPU performs a regeneration process of stopping combustion control in one or some of cylinders and making the air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture in the other cylinders or cylinder richer than a theoretical air-fuel ratio, when the amount of PM collected by a GPF increases. In performing the regeneration process, the CPU itself compensates for a fall in the output of an internal combustion engine by gradually increasing the filling efficiency of the other cylinders or cylinder. It should be noted, however, that since the output of the internal combustion engine temporarily fluctuates, the CPU compensates for the fluctuations through the use of a second motor-generator. The CPU varies the retardation amount of a timing of starting the regeneration process with respect to a timing of gradually increasing the filling efficiency, in accordance with the state of a battery.

A CPU prompts a user to drive a vehicle to a repair shop by operating a display when an amount of PM deposited in a GPF increases. When a regeneration request for the GPF is input from a shop-side terminal in the repair shop, the CPU performs a regeneration process in a state in which the vehicle stops. The CPU controls a temperature of the GPF such that the temperature at the time of execution of the regeneration process becomes lower when an opening/closing member is in a closed state than when the opening/closing member is in an open state.

A control method is provided for controlling an internal combustion engine for a vehicle configured to engage a lockup clutch during a fuel cut, and to decrease a lockup hydraulic pressure at a fuel cut recovery to bring the lockup clutch to a slip engagement. The control method includes estimating a torque of the internal combustion engine generated by the fuel cut recovery when a fuel cut recovery condition is satisfied. The control method further includes decreasing a decrease amount of the lockup hydraulic pressure as the torque is greater.

Systems and methods for estimating a temperature of an after treatment device in an exhaust system of an engine are described. In one example, the temperature is estimated during condition when an engine exits a fuel cut-out mode and excess fuel is delivered to the after treatment device for the purpose of increasing after treatment device efficiency.

Disclosed are methods and systems for monitoring a diesel generator system that includes a DPF filter in order to provide a highly efficient approach for monitoring the status of a DPF filter in order to determine if a regeneration is required. The methods and systems not only permit the ongoing determination of when a regeneration is appropriate in order to prevent excessive engine backpressure, but also accomplish this objective in a manner that reduces fuel consumption over the course of engine use.
Deceleration fuel cut-off enabled regeneration for gas particulate filter
Systems and methods provide deceleration fuel cutoff regeneration of a gas particulate filter. A powertrain system includes an exhaust system containing the gas particulate filter, which is configured to collect particulate matter from an exhaust gas stream of the powertrain system. A temperature sensor is configured to monitor a temperature of the gas particulate filter. A loading monitor, such as a sensor and/or a model, is configured to provide a loading input of particulate loading of the gas particulate filter. At least one controller is configured to: determine, by comparing the loading input to stored values, whether the gas particulate filter requires the regeneration; effect a warmup of the gas particulate filter when the determination shows the gas particulate filter requires the regeneration; and initiate the regeneration when a value received from the temperature sensor meets a minimum threshold level.
