20230160401 · 2023-05-25 ·

An actuator is provided. The actuator includes a first body defining an interior, a second body disposed about the first body and defining space between an exterior of the first body and an interior of the second body, a plunger including a head sealably disposed in the interior and a rod connected to the head and sealably extended through the first and second bodies and first and second fluid systems. The first fluid system is insulated from the space. A first fluid is moved relative to the interior for causing the plunger to extend or retract by way of the first fluid system. A second fluid is moved through the space by way of the second fluid system.

Piston Ring Seal with Reduced Stiction
20230204053 · 2023-06-29 ·

A piston and cylinder assembly structured to reduce breakaway friction (stiction) upon movement of the piston within the cylinder. The assembly includes a cylinder housing, a piston having a piston crown with a top face and one or more peripheral grooves, and a sealing ring positioned on the piston in each of the one or more peripheral grooves. The piston crown incorporates one or more passageways extending from a space above the piston to a location within the peripheral groove inside of (behind) the sealing ring. An increase in a volume of fluid in the chamber above the piston directs fluid through the passageways into the peripheral groove, thereby pressing the sealing ring against the cylinder wall. A double acting piston embodiment uses at least two sealing rings positioned within at least two grooves, each with associated fluid flow passageways into the grooves behind the sealing rings.

PISTON RING ASSEMBLY

A piston ring assembly includes an inner ring, a first outer ring, and a second outer ring. The inner ring has an outer surface and an inner surface that extends between a first inner ring face and a second inner ring face. The first outer ring has a first outer ring outer surface disposed opposite a first outer ring inner surface, each extends between a first outer ring face and a first outer ring second face. The first outer ring inner surface engages the outer surface. The second outer ring has a second outer ring outer surface disposed opposite a second outer ring inner surface, each extends between a second outer ring first face and a second outer ring second face.

STABILITY AND CONTROL AUGMENTATION SYSTEM ACTUATOR

A stability and control augmentation system (SCAS) actuator is operable for actuating a flight control surface of an aircraft. The SCAS actuator includes an actuator housing having a first aperture, a second aperture and a hydraulic chamber therebetween. A piston extends through the actuator housing. Fluid inlets are in fluid communication with regions of the hydraulic chamber. A first end portion of the piston is arranged to slide through the first aperture without a seal between the first end portion and the first aperture. A second end portion of the piston is arranged to slide through the second aperture without a seal between the second end portion and the second aperture. An intermediate portion of the piston is arranged to slide in the hydraulic chamber without a seal between the intermediate portion and the hydraulic chamber.

Steering System for a Trailing Axle of a Vehicle
20170327147 · 2017-11-16 ·

A steering system for a trailing or leading axle of a vehicle includes a steering angle sensor for measuring a steering angle of wheels of a front axle of the vehicle, a driving speed sensor for measuring a driving speed of the vehicle, an electric motor that drives a hydraulic pump, and a working cylinder connected to the hydraulic pump for steering the wheels of the trailing axle. The system also includes a control device that determines a trailing angle of wheels on the trailing axle of the vehicle and actuates the electric motor in a corresponding manner. The working cylinder has a center position borehole via which hydraulic fluid is released from the working cylinder. A piston closes the center position borehole in the straight-ahead position of the wheels of the trailing axle. The center position borehole can only be closed by a piston seal of the piston.

Actuator and valve device

An actuator includes a casing having a first annular groove formed in an inner peripheral portion thereof; a piston having a second annular groove formed in an outer peripheral portion thereof, provided in the casing to form a pressure chamber together with the casing, and driven by a drive fluid from an outside of the actuator; and an annular seal member having a first fitting portion to be fitted into the first annular groove and a second fitting portion to be fitted into the second annular groove to seal the pressure chamber.

Actuator assembly

An actuator assembly comprises a housing having a piston at least partially disposed therein. The actuator assembly includes at least one biasing mechanism disposed within the housing to selectively position the piston between a first position, a second position, and a third position located between the first and second positions.

FLUIDIC CYLINDER

The present invention relates to a fluidic cylinder. This fluidic cylinder is configured in such a manner that a piston unit is received in an axially displaceable manner within a cylinder tube formed in a rectangular cross-sectional shape. The piston unit has: a base body having the front end of a piston rod staked thereto; a wear ring having the base body received therein and having a magnet incorporated therein; and piston packing adjacent to the wear ring. The piston unit is integrally held at one end of the piston rod. The wear ring and the piston packing are formed in a rectangular cross-sectional shape corresponding to the rectangular cross-sectional shape of the cylinder tube and are provided rotatable relative to the piston rod.

A piston of a fluid pressure cylinder comprises a sealing ring interposed in a sealing ring accommodation groove, a piston ring that is interposed in a piston ring accommodation groove of the piston and comprises a fractured portion, and a backup ring that is attached to an outer peripheral surface of the piston and contacts the sealing ring and the piston ring. A groove for holding the backup ring is not required, and therefore a diameter of the piston can be reduced relative to the sealing ring. As a result, attachment of the sealing ring to the piston is simplified.

Pneumatic or hydraulic mechanism
11242873 · 2022-02-08 ·

A pneumatic or hydraulic mechanism has a housing defining a piston chamber and having a fluid inlet port. A piston is slidable in the piston chamber. The piston partitions the piston chamber into a front chamber and a rear chamber. The piston has one or more passages for fluid communication between the rear chamber and the front chamber, the one or more passages being sealed by a sealing mechanism. The sealing mechanism has a sealing state in which the sealing mechanism substantially inhibits fluid communication between the rear chamber and the front chamber, and a non-sealing state in which the sealing mechanism allows fluid communication between the rear chamber and the front chamber. The piston is slidable between a first position and a second position. When the piston is positioned in the first position, the sealing mechanism is in the sealing state. Upon supply of a fluid to the inlet port, the fluid urges the piston to its second position and then causes the sealing mechanism to change to the non-sealing state until the pressure in the rear chamber and the front chamber equalises, allowing the sealing mechanism to return to the sealing state. Upon removal of fluid from the rear chamber, the fluid in the front chamber urges the piston to return to its first position.
