THREADED BLIND FASTENER AND SPACER ASSEMBLY AND METHODS FOR THE ASSEMBLY AND USE THEREOF
A threaded blind fastener and spacer assembly is provided, the assembly including a blind fastener having a flange; and a spacer having a surface, said spacer having a hole therethrough, said hole terminating as a counterbore at said surface, said counterbore receiving said flange. Methods of preparing the assembly and a method of securing the threaded blind fastener and spacer assembly to a substrate material are also provided.
FASTENING ELEMENT
A fastening element (10) for producing a blind rivet connection between components, comprising a screw (1) with a screw head (11) and a sleeve-shaped rivet arrangement (2) through which the screw (1) passes. Starting from the screw head, the rivet arrangement (2) has consecutively an installation spacer region (21), a deformation region (22) and a drive region (23) into which the screw is screwed. As seen from the drive region (23) to the screw head, the circumferential boundaries of the drive region (23) lie within the circumferential boundaries of the deformation region (22), the circumferential boundaries of the installation spacer region (21) protrude radially over the circumferential boundaries of the deformation region (22), and the circumferential boundaries of the screw head protrude radially over the circumferential boundaries of the installation spacer region (21). The installation spacer region (21) and the deformation region (22) are designed in such a manner that, as the screw is tightened, first of all plastic deformation of the deformation region (22) occurs in such a manner that the axial length thereof is shortened and the circumferential boundaries thereof are radially enlarged, and then a shortening of the axial length of the installation spacer region (21) occurs.
DEFORMABLE SLEEVE NUT AND A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a deformable sleeve nut that includes selectively strain hardening only a first portion of a material blank while not strain hardening a second portion of the material blank, then, after strain hardening the first portion of the material blank, internally threading the first portion of the material blank to define a nut portion and machining the second portion of the material blank to define a deformable sleeve portion that includes an end portion and a bulbing portion positioned between the end portion and the nut portion, where the bulbing portion is constructed to bulb outwardly and form a load bearing flange when the bulbing portion is compressed between the end portion and the nut portion. Also disclosed is a deformable sleeve nut made with this process.
Fastener for securing together two panels
A fastener is provided for securing a first panel to a second panel. The fastener includes a stud insertable through apertures in the first and second panels. The fastener further includes a pivoting handle assembly with a handle operatively connected to a stud head and pivotal between an upright position generally perpendicular to the first panel, and a folded position generally parallel to the first panel. A biasing mechanism is connected to the stud head and the handle that biases the handle outward relative to the stud head. A locking pin is connected to the stud head and the handle and is in connection with the biasing mechanism to hold the handle in the upright position or the folded position. A fastener is also provided for securing together the first and second panels, including a grommet, a receptacle and an insert in threaded engagement with an interior of the receptacle.
Side-by-side vehicle
The present invention relates to all terrain vehicles having at least a pair of laterally spaced apart seating surfaces.
INSERT TO BE CRIMPED, FIXING PART AND ASSEMBLY COMPRISING ONE SUCH INSERT AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH PARTS
Insert to be crimped on a support, including a body having: a shank extending along a longitudinal axis and including a crimping section configured to deform into a crimping bead to crimp the insert on the support, and a flange presenting a surface facing the crimping section and extending along an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the flange having a constant thickness and presenting a fold forming a groove situated on the surface and designed to receive a seal.
CLINCH NUT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ONE SUCH NUT
Method for manufacturing a clinch nut, comprising: cold forging a steel body including a weight percentage of carbon comprised between 0.15% and 0.25% inclusive to form a workpiece including a pliable section designed to deform into a crimping bead and a connection section, applying a heat treatment to the workpiece, and tapping the connection section to form an internal thread.
SELF-PIERCING RIVET WITH HIGH MECHANICAL STRENGTH
A self-piercing rivet comprises a bearing flange and a piercing end with a radially-expandable hollow tubular body extending axially between the flange and the piercing end, the body comprising a cylindrical first portion that is adjacent to said flange, a cylindrical second portion that is adjacent to said piercing end, and an expandable barrel-shaped third portion between the cylindrical first and second portions, and a bushing arranged in the second portion that is designed to be driven in axial translation towards the flange. The bushing extends axially inside the third portion of the tubular body in such a manner that it is inserted into said first portion of the body when the third portion is completely expanded. The third portion of the body is designed to produce, before being deformed radially, an abrasion or deburring effect on the peripheral edge of a hole being pierced by said piercing end.
COUPLING MEMBER, A METHOD OF FIXING THE COUPLING MEMBER TO AN OBJECT, AND A DISPLAY DEVICE HAVING THE COUPLING MEMBER
A coupling member includes a body including a first section, a second section, and a third section; a first screw part disposed along a first inner portion of the body corresponding to the first section; a second screw part disposed along a second inner portion of the body corresponding to the second section; and a non-screw part disposed in a third inner portion of the body corresponding to the third section, wherein the non-screw part is connected to at least one of the first screw part and the second screw part.
Component arrangement with a blind rivet nut
A component arrangement comprising a first component, a second component, at least one screw means and at least one blind rivet nut for insertion into a wall of the first component and for coupling to at least one second component is provided. The blind rivet nut has a rivet head, and the sum of a diameter of the rivet head and twice a spacing between the second component and rivet head corresponds to 0.7 to 1.2 times a diameter of a bead-like protuberance of the blind rivet nut, the second component, in the coupling region, being in contact with the first component only in sections, the second component having a spacing from a rivet head of the blind rivet nut within a plane which is parallel to a contact surface between rivet head and first component. The spacing is greater than a wall thickness of the first component.
