Fluid injectors for hot flow
A fluid injector for injecting an injection fluid into a hot flow can include a flow structure defining an injection flow channel and configured to extend at least partially into a flow path to introduce the injection fluid into the hot flow in the flow path. The flow structure can include one or more heat resistance features to protect the flow structure and the fluid from heat of the hot flow.
Method for operating an exhaust gas purification apparatus
A method for operating an exhaust gas purification apparatus (10) of a vehicle includes monitoring close-coupled lambda value (Ln) of a close-coupled catalytic converter apparatus (20), operating the close-coupled catalytic converter apparatus (20) with an excess of fuel, monitoring a non-close-coupled lambda value (Lf) of a non-close-coupled catalytic converter apparatus (30), and operating the non-close-coupled catalytic converter apparatus (30) in a stoichiometric method of operation.
Engine Cooling System
An engine cooling system comprising an exhaust enclosure formed in an engine compartment of a work machine. An exhaust processing system is situated within the exhaust enclosure. The exhaust enclosure is bounded in part by spaced upper and lower panels that are exposed to the ambient environment. At least one opening is formed in each panel. When an engine and fan also contained within the engine compartment are shut down, ambient air flows into the exhaust enclosure through the opening in the lower panel. The air flows around the exhaust processing system and back into the ambient environment through the opening formed in the upper panel.
A SYSTEM FOR IMPROVED ENGINE BRAKING
The invention provides an operation system for a vehicle, comprising an internal combustion engine (1) comprising a cylinder (301, 302), and an exhaust guide (500, 501, 502) being arranged to guide a gas flow from the cylinder (301, 302) to the atmosphere, wherein the vehicle operation system further comprises a pneumatic system (660), and an air conduit (661) connecting the pneumatic system (660) with the exhaust guide (500, 501, 502) for allowing a flow of compressed air from the pneumatic system into the exhaust guide (500, 501, 502).
Two-Stroke Engine Exhaust Resonator With Exhaust Gas Catalytic Converter
A two-stroke engine exhaust resonator with an exhaust gas catalytic converter comprising an inlet opening, wherein the inlet opening is followed by the first end of a stabilizing tube with a catalytic converter mounted thereon, characterized in that the other end of the stabilizing tube is directed towards the primary reflective surface, the primary reflective surface is followed by the first end of a resonator casing, which is surrounding the stabilizing tube, wherein the resonator casing exceeds at least over a part of the catalytic converter on the stabilizing tube, wherein a resonator outlet opening is arranged in the resonator casing between its first and second end or in the primary reflective surface, and at least a part of the resonator casing surrounding the stabilizing tube is surrounded by a cooler.
Internal combustion engine with turbocharger
An internal combustion engine with a turbocharger includes a catalyst, downstream of a turbine, in an exhaust passage. The internal combustion engine includes a waste gate, and a waste gate valve. The internal combustion engine further includes a flow-adjusting member or a flow-adjusting mechanism. The flow-adjusting member disperses a flow of exhaust gas from the waste gate when the opening degree of the waste gate valve is small and concentrates the flow when the opening degree of the waste gate valve is large. The flow-adjusting mechanism switches between a dispersed state in which the flow is dispersed and a concentrate state in which the flow is concentrated.
System and apparatus to mitigate diesel exhaust fluid deposits in exhaust system flexible couplings
A system to mitigate diesel exhaust fluid deposits in vehicle exhaust system flexible couplings includes a diesel exhaust pipeline. A diesel exhaust fluid injector is connected to the diesel exhaust pipeline to inject a diesel exhaust fluid into the diesel exhaust pipeline. A flexible coupling is connected to the diesel exhaust pipeline. A diesel exhaust fluid collection device is positioned in the diesel exhaust pipeline between a connection location into the diesel exhaust pipeline of the diesel exhaust fluid injector and the flexible coupling. The diesel exhaust fluid collection device includes a liquid diesel exhaust fluid collection volume where an un-vaporized portion of the diesel exhaust fluid is collected.
Method and system for purifying exhaust gas for prevention of NH.SUB.3 .slip
A system for purifying exhaust gas includes a controller to predict a possibility of ammonia (NH.sub.3) slip occurring at the rear end of a selective catalytic reduction on a diesel particulate filter (SDPF) by comparing a convective heat transfer value (h) with a first predetermined value. The controller determines whether an engine is rapidly accelerated, and performs a control to prevent introduction of ammonia downstream of the SDPF when the ammonia slip is predicted to occur.
Internal combustion engine systems including intermittent sorbent usage for emission reduction
A method for operating an internal combustion engine includes combusting fuel and air within a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, thereby forming an exhaust gas, passing the exhaust gas out of the combustion chamber, and performing a startup procedure, the startup procedure including passing the exhaust gas from the combustion chamber through a first aftertreatment system to a pollutant capture unit, capturing criteria pollutants of the exhaust gas with the pollutant capture unit, and heating the first aftertreatment system to a first activation temperature. Subsequent to heating the first aftertreatment system to the first activation temperature a secondary procedure is performed including passing the exhaust gas from the combustion chamber directly to a second aftertreatment system bypassing the pollutant capture unit to heat the second aftertreatment system to a second activation temperature. Subsequently, exhaust gas is passed through the pollutant capture unit to desorb captured criteria pollutants.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REDUCTANT DELIVERY IN AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEMS FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES
A dosing lance assembly for an exhaust component includes: a housing comprising: a plate having a first channel, an endcap having a second channel, and a pipe having a first end coupled to the plate and a second end coupled to the endcap, wherein at least a portion of the pipe is airfoil-shaped; and a delivery conduit having a first end coupled to the plate and a second end coupled to the endcap, such that reductant is flowable from the first channel to the second channel.
