The present invention relates to an article (10). The article comprises an aerosol-generating substrate (12) and a region (14) positioned longitudinally relative to the aerosol generating substrate. The region comprises a rod segment (16) formed from a plurality of elongate strips (17) of sheet material (18) extending longitudinally through said rod segment. The present invention also relates to a segment of sheet material for a rod segment. The segment of sheet material comprises a segment of a web (44) of sheet material (18) of discrete length comprising a plurality of elongate strips (17) and a band (22) of sheet material extending transversely to the plurality of elongate strips. The plurality of elongate strips extend from the band of sheet material. The present invention also relates to an apparatus (40) for manufacturing rod segments and a method of forming a rod segment.
Machine for making cigarette filters and method for making cigarette filters
A machine for making cigarette filters and which includes a forming beam having an internal channel whose transverse cross section changes shape along the main longitudinal direction of the channel. Porous conveyor means carry the tow along a feed path in the channel complying with the shape thereof and thereby being wrapped around the tow. At least one treatment station located along the feed path includes a nozzle for blowing a flow of steam into the channel. The nozzle includes a plurality of planar sectors positioned transversely to the channel and defining an overall planar flow orifice placed directly in communication with a steam feed duct. Each planar sector defines a respective planar flow orifice and at least two flow orifices have different thicknesses.
Apparatus and Method for Filter Manufacture
A filter rod for a smoking article comprising an extruded hardened tubular element formed from a filter material with entrained cured plasticiser, and a continuous core of filler material provided within the tubular element. Also disclosed is an apparatus for manufacturing such a filter rod, the apparatus comprising a duct having an inlet to receive filter tow material and plasticiser, and an outlet. The duct tapers between the inlet and the outlet. A mandrel is disposed at least partially within the duct and is fixed relative to the duct. The mandrel is hollow and includes an internal passage extending though the mandrel through which a filler material may be conveyed. The passage includes an outlet at a distal end of the mandrel though which the filler material may be expelled. A heating zone is configured to heat filter material. The apparatus is configured such that filter tow material and plasticiser conveyed through the duct is compressed around the mandrel into a tubular rod, and filler material fed though the internal passage of the mandrel is expelled out of the passage outlet to fill the bore of the tubular rod. The tubular rod is heated in the heating zone to at least partially cure the plasticiser, to produce a continuous filter rod comprising a tubular rod of hardened filter material with a continuous core of filler material. Also disclosed is a method of manufacture of such a filter rod.
AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE WITH NARROW HOLLOW TUBULAR FILTER
An aerosol-generating article is provided, including: a substrate portion containing aerosol-forming substrate; and a hollow tubular filter portion having an inner diameter of between 0.5 millimeters and 2 millimeters, and the aerosol-forming substrate including at least one aerosol-former selected from the group consisting of: polyhydric alcohols, esters of polyhydric alcohols, and aliphatic esters of mono-, di-, or polycarboxylic acids. A system for generating an aerosol is also provided, including an aerosol-generating device including a heating chamber and a heating element; and the aerosol-generating article, the aerosol-generating article being configured to be insertable into the heating chamber.
TUBE FILTER PRODUCTION DEVICE AND TUBE FILTER PRODUCTION METHOD
According to embodiments of the present invention, there is provided a tube filter production device including a tube filter exterior forming case into which one or more filter tows are introduced and from which a tubular rod formed from the one or more filter tows is discharged, a tube filter forming bar extending in an inner region of the tube filter exterior forming case in order to form a hollow of the tubular rod, and a steam chamber having at least one steam nozzle in communication with the inner region of the tube filter exterior forming case and configured to supply steam to the one or more filter tows through the steam nozzle, wherein the tube filter forming bar has a duct extending in a longitudinal direction of the tube filter forming bar and a flavoring nozzle formed in a downstream end region of the tube filter forming bar to deliver a flavoring liquid or a moisturizing liquid supplied through the duct to the hollow of the tubular rod.
AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE COMPRISING A HOLLOW TUBULAR SUPPORT ELEMENT
An aerosol-generating article having an upstream end and a downstream end is provided, the article defining a longitudinal direction between the upstream end and the downstream end, the article including: an aerosol-forming substrate; a hollow tubular support element disposed downstream of the substrate and extending along the longitudinal direction, defining an opening extending in the longitudinal direction and configured for aerosol to flow towards the downstream end, a filter disposed downstream of the hollow tubular support element in the longitudinal direction, a hardness of the article at the hollow tubular support element is at least about 80%, and the hardness of the article at the hollow tubular support element is determined by means of the DD60A Test. An aerosol-generating system is also provided.
AN ARTICLE FOR USE IN A NON-COMBUSTIBLE AEROSOL PROVISION SYSTEM
Embodiments of the disclosure relate to an article for use in a non-combustible aerosol provision system, the article comprising an aerosol generating material and a mouthpiece connected to the aerosol generating material, wherein the mouthpiece comprises a cavity having an internal volume greater than 450 mm.sup.3. There is also provided a system including the article and a non-combustible aerosol provision device for heating the aerosol generating material of the article.

A method of manufacturing a smoking article including a tube filter includes preparing a smoking material portion, a first tube filter flavored by a first flavoring liquid, and a mouthpiece flavored by a second flavoring liquid; and combining and packaging the smoking material portion, the first tube filter, and the mouthpiece with a wrapper, wherein the preparing comprises applying the first flavoring liquid inside the first tube filter through a hollow of the first tube filter.
