Air disc brake system with caliper retraction and methods for the use and assembly thereof

An air disc brake system includes a carrier and a guide pin mounted to the carrier. A caliper is slidably mounted on the guide pin. The caliper has an annular groove extending radially outwardly from an inner circumferential surface. The caliper is moveable relative to the guide pin from a non-braking position to a braking position. A friction ring is disposed in the annular groove and is deformable from a first configuration when the caliper is in the non-braking position to a second configuration when the caliper is in the braking position. The friction ring biases the caliper from the braking position to the non-braking position. Methods of using and assembling the air disc brake system are also provided.

The disclosure relates to a brake caliper guide for a floating caliper disk brake, comprising at least one guide pin attached to a brake caliper, having a head and a shaft, a brake carrier having at least one guide bore which has an entry region and a bore depth extending into the brake carrier, and a guide device inserted into the entry region of the guide bore having a sliding sleeve arranged in an elastomer sleeve 40. The shaft of the guide pin is mounted in a longitudinally displaceable manner in the sliding sleeve such that the head is located outside the brake carrier. The region of the shaft which is located on the side of the guide device oriented toward the bore depth projects into the guide bore. The end face of the sliding sleeve which is oriented toward the outer face of the brake carrier has a first collar which extends radially outwardly. The elastomer sleeve overlaps the sliding sleeve and adjoins the first collar and is delimited in the longitudinal extent thereof by this collar, and/or the end face of the sliding sleeve, which is oriented toward the outer face of the brake carrier, has a first collar which extends radially outwardly. The end face of the sliding sleeve has a second collar which extends radially outwardly. The elastomer sleeve is arranged between the first and the second collar and is delimited in the longitudinal extent thereof by the collars.

Disclosed herein a caliper brake includes a brake disc rotating with a wheel of a vehicle; an inner brake pad and an outer brake pad respectively disposed on opposite sides of the brake disc; a pressing member configured to press the inner brake pad against the brake disc; a caliper housing in which the pressing member is movable forward and backward; a caliper bridge connected to the caliper housing and configured to press the outer brake pad against the brake disc by a reaction force in response to operation of the pressing member; a carrier fixed to a body of the vehicle; and at least one guide rod fixed to the carrier and guiding sliding movement of the caliper housing and the caliper bridge with respect to the carrier.
