Piping inspection robot and method of inspecting piping
Provided is an inspection robot that is self-propelled on piping, measures moisture contained in a lagging material using a mounted inspection device, for example, a neutron moisture meter, and detects risk of corrosion. The inspection robot includes a main frame 1 including a recessed part 17 fit onto an outer circumferential surface of piping P, a main frame drive mechanism (first drive mechanism) D1 that causes the main frame to advance/retract in an axis direction of the piping, a revolving member 32 supported in an advanceable/retractable manner along an arc-shaped locus in the recessed part of the main frame, a revolving member drive mechanism (second drive mechanism) D2 that moves the revolving member, and an inspection device mounted on the revolving member.
X-ray system, semiconductor package, and tray having X-ray absorption filter
An X-ray source is disposed and a detector is disposed adjacent to the X-ray source. A test specimen holder is disposed between the X-ray source and the detector. A filter is disposed between the X-ray source and the test specimen holder. The filter has a plate-shaped semiconductor, a granular semiconductor, or a combination thereof.
Radiographic markers for partial penetration welded joints
A weldment member for a gas turbine engine including a forward welding member and an aft welding member. The forward welding member has an annular shape with a forward welding face formed at one end. The forward welding face has a forward radiographic marking hole formed therein. The aft welding member has an annular shape with an aft welding face formed at one end. The aft welding face has an aft radiographic marking hole formed therein. The forward welding face is aligned with the aft welding face and the forward radiographic marking hole is angularly offset from the aft radiographic marking hole.
TRANSPORTABLE LINEAR ACCELERATOR SYSTEM AND TRANSPORTABLE NEUTRON SOURCE EQUIPPED THEREWITH
For the purpose of providing a transportable linear accelerator system which can restrain entering of losing ion beams deviated from a trajectory therefor, to thereby efficiently achieve reduction in radioactivity at low cost, and a transportable neutron source equipped therewith, a transportable linear accelerator system is configured to be provided with a beam chopper just before an inlet of a post-accelerator, thereby to cut off, from the proton beams pre-accelerated by a pre-accelerator, uncontrolled proton beams, and thus to radiate only the controlled proton beams to the post-accelerator, so that the proton beams are prevented from hitting an acceleration electrode, etc. of the post accelerator.
X-ray interferometric imaging system
An x-ray interferometric imaging system in which the x-ray source comprises a target having a plurality of structured coherent sub-sources of x-rays embedded in a thermally conducting substrate. The system additionally comprises a beam-splitting grating G.sub.1 that establishes a Talbot interference pattern, which may be a π phase-shifting grating, and an x-ray detector to convert two-dimensional x-ray intensities into electronic signals. The system may also comprise a second analyzer grating G.sub.2 that may be placed in front of the detector to form additional interference fringes, a means to translate the second grating G.sub.2 relative to the detector. The system may additionally comprise an antiscattering grid to reduce signals from scattered x-rays. Various configurations of dark-field and bright-field detectors are also disclosed.
Distance and direction-sensitive cosmogenic neutron sensors
A local area cosmogenic neutron sensor is used for detecting moisture within a measurement surface. A neutron detector is positioned on a stand structure holding the detector above a measurement surface. A moderator material and neutron shield are positioned around at least a portion of the neutron detector. The neutron shield substantially covers lateral sides and an entirety of a top of the neutron detector and is not positioned on a bottom side of the neutron detector. A thermal neutron shield is positioned below the neutron detector and in a path of neutron travel between the measurement surface and the neutron detector to substantially block environmental thermal neutrons from reaching the neutron detector, which improves the signal-to-noise ratio and signal contrast of the local area cosmogenic neutron sensor.
