Glove with improved index finger precision made from reinforced multilayer material
10201200 · 2019-02-12 · ·

A glove made from a reinforced multilayer material can prevent cuts and/or abrasions. The glove can include and exterior layer and at least one interior layer, the interior layer consisting of an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene filaments. While the interior layer can entirely cover a hand of a wearer of the glove, the exterior layer does not cover the index finger of the wearer, such that the wearer's dexterity, precision, and sensitivity in their index finger are improved.

Fabric having a waterproof barrier

Provided herein are ecologically friendly waterproof fabrics that include a base fabric having a body-facing surface and an outward-facing surface, and a hydrophobic, waterproof barrier disposed on the outward-facing surface of the base fabric. The base fabric may be a wicking fabric or may be treated with a compound that enhances wicking, and the hydrophobic, waterproof barrier may include a plastic polymer, polyurethane, polyethylene, and/or polytetrafluoroethylene. The waterproof fabrics also may include an abrasion-resistant coating and/or a PFC-free durable water repellant (DWR) agent disposed on an outward-facing surface of the hydrophobic, waterproof barrier, and one or both of the abrasion-resistant coating and/or PFC-free DWR agent may be discontinuous. Also provided are methods of making a waterproof fabric.

Garments made from a composite, protective fabric are disclosed. The composite fabric has textile layers placed in proximity to metallic mesh layers of woven stainless steel mesh. The metal mesh layers formed from any metal which forms suitable fibers. The textile layers are fabric formed with well-known fabric fibers selected from those including para-aramid fibers, meta-aramid fibers, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers, polyethylene terephthalate fibers, cellulose fibers, polyamide fibers, a mixture of para-aramid fibers and meta-aramid fibers, and a mixture of para-aramid fibers and carbon fibers. Forming the non-metal textile layers is by any suitable method for interlacing yarns including weaving, knitting, crocheting, knotting, or felting, or combinations thereof. The garments made using the fabric include gloves, bullet proof vests and chain-saw resistant trousers.

EMBOSSED FABRIC ASSEMBLY
20180229468 · 2018-08-16 ·

In some examples, the disclosure relates to a layered fabric assembly comprising a fabric substrate; a plurality of plates affixed to a top surface of the fabric substrate and arrayed in a pattern such that continuous gaps are defined between adjacent plates; and an embossing support layer affixed to a bottom surface of the fabric substrate, wherein the thickness of the embossing support layer varies to define a plurality of raised portions separated by lower portions. The raised and lower portions each contain multiple plates and define a coarse-grained structure that varies on a size scale larger than the size scale of the plurality of plates and gaps of the flexible substrate. In some examples, the fabric assembly combines the superior abrasion, wear, stain, and/or cut resistance afforded the plurality of plates and gaps on the fabric, with a coarse-grained structure that provides such additional attributes.
