Multilayer composite materials combining a low tenacity nylon fabric with a fabric formed from high tenacity fibers. The fabrics are bonded with a compatibilizing adhesive system that achieves a peel strength of at least 1.5 lbs/inch. The nylon is colored with a camouflage pattern and the high strength fabric is colored with a color that does not stand out relative to the camouflage pattern. The composite materials are used for forming vest covers and plate carrier materials, particularly webless plate carrier materials having slots for hanging modular accessories.

The first cape sleeve is fastenable to the second cape sleeve to assemble the garment, wherein the first half closure on the first half-chest portion of the first cape sleeve is fastened to the second half closure on the second half chest portion of the second cape sleeve, and the second half closure on the second half-chest portion of the first cape sleeve is fastened to the first half closure on the first half chest portion on the second cape sleeve.

A protective glove for protection against cuts or puncture wounds comprises an inner layer that is in contact with the hand when the glove is in use, a protective layer at least on a part of the palm side of the glove, and an outer layer. The protective layer comprises a composition of a wire mesh of woven metal wires. The protective layer comprises at least two sheets of woven metal, a first sheet of the two sheets having a palm portion and at least one finger or thumb portion, a second sheet of the two sheets having a palm portion and at least one finger or thumb portion different from said first sheet. The two sheets of woven metal are attached to each other adjacent at least at a part of the line defined by the transition between the fingers and the palm.

In one embodiment, the structure is designed for impacts associated with contact sports, such as football, hockey and lacrosse. In another embodiment, the structure is designed for military/police applications, in which impacts can be blunt forces, from weapons such as clubs, or penetrative forces, from knives, bullets or shrapnel.

The protective clothing system generally includes a clothing item having a front portion and a rear portion. The front portion of the clothing item is constructed of three to fifteen sheets of protective material to protect the front portion of the body of the user from high velocity particles and lacerating objects. The rear portion of the clothing item may have no protective material or significantly less sheets of protective material compared to the front portion to help reduce the weight of the clothing item. The joints of the clothing item corresponding to the human joints are relatively free moving to provide increased mobility to the user.
