Earmuffs

Earmuffs with a joint are provided to create a biased pressure distribution about a perimeter of the cup. The earmuffs may include a pivot joint. The pressure distribution creates a wedging pressure (e.g., on a top edge) on the cups that hold the earmuffs on the user's head, for example, when the user rotates the headband behind the head. The bias pressure is also used to adjust the seal formed between the pad and the user's head. Adjustments to the moment created by separating the joints from the cup's apex enable a user to selectively adjust the seal according to the user's preference. A cam is added to the headband to change the hoop stress distributed at the joints and further adjust the compressive forces generated to hold the earmuffs against the user's head.

Sound muffling headwear
09585792 · 2017-03-07 ·

A headband, cap, hat, or the like worn by a child, particularly an infant, includes an embedded sound-attenuation system to protect hearing against loud sounds that might startle, awaken, or injure a wearer. Shells formed of a comparatively soft and flexible elastomeric material are secured against the head of a user, each enclosing an ear in an air tight chamber, to close down the transmission paths available to sound waves. The shells are impervious to air, and flexible to conform to the head when secured by the headgear in which the shells are embedded. Each shell is provided with a rim, sufficiently flexible to deform and deflect into complete, sealed contact with the head.

Buckle type earmuff

The present utility model discloses a buckle type earmuff, comprising two ear-wrapping covers with connecting buckle plates on their outer side walls and a wearing band mounted between the two connecting buckle plates. Embodiment 1: when worn by an adult, the distance on the elastic plate can be adjusted by pulling the two connecting buckle plates. After adjustment, the clamping block and buckle secure the two ear-wrapping covers to the connecting buckle plates, making it ready for use. Embodiment 2: when used by a kid, Adjust the size of the band ring formed by the elastic. After adjustment, both support housings are buckled onto the adjusted elastic band along with their respective main bodies of buckle plates. This allows the elastic to wrap around the forehead and back of the child's head.

An ear sun protector that is attachable to a hat. The ear protector includes a clip having a front clip portion and a rear clip portion that are coupled at a bottom planar portion, where the front clip portion and the rear clip portion define a gap therebetween configured to accept a rim of the hat. The ear protector also includes a curved sunlight blocking portion that is affixed to a front face of the front clip portion and that is generally perpendicular relative to the clip. The sunlight blocking portion sits above an ear of a user when the ear protector is clipped to the hat.
