Classification of magnet tampering conditions on a metering device
A method and system for detecting tampering of an energy meter can involve, in a first phase: gathering magnetic field sample data, an average magnetic field strength, a minimum magnetic field strength, and a maximum magnetic field strength from a magnetic field condition applied to an energy meter by a magnetic sensor that measures a magnetic field in one or more directions, and using learning coefficients calculated from the magnetic field sample data and the average magnetic field strength, the minimum magnetic field strength, and the maximum magnetic field strength to classify with a classifier, magnet tampering conditions with respect to the energy meter. In a second phase, a magnet tamper event can be identified with respect to the energy meter when the magnet tampering condition classified by the classifier is greater than a magnetic detection threshold.

A method and a system (110) for providing sound data for generation of an audible notification relating to power consumption at a site (120) are disclosed. The system receives (201) information about power consumption at the site (120); and The system determines (202) the sound data based on the information about power consumption and on preference of a user of the system (110). A corresponding computer program and a carrier therefor are also disclosed.
METER FOR USE WITH A DISTRIBUTED ENERGY RESOURCE DEVICE
An electric meter includes a housing, a first set of connection paths, and a second set of connection paths. The first set of connection paths couple to a meter socket and are electrically coupled to a first electrical connection path between first phases of an electric distribution power source, a distributed energy resource device, and a load. First electrical metrology components of the first electrical connection path are positioned within a first segment of the housing. The second set of connection paths couple to a meter socket and are electrically coupled to a second electrical connection path between second phases of the electric distribution power source, the distributed energy resource device, and the load. Second electrical metrology components of the second electrical connection path are positioned within a second segment of the housing that is non-overlapping with the first segment of the housing.
SYSTEMS FOR DETECTING TEMPERATURE AND CURRENT EVENTS IN A POWER GRID AND RELATED METHODS
A system that detects temperature and current events in a power grid is provided. The system includes a magnetic field sensor associated with an electric meter, a first temperature sensor associated with the electric meter, a plurality of bus bars connected to the electric meter and at least one temperature sensor uniquely associated with each of the plurality of bus bars. The system detects a magnetic field and compares the detected magnetic field to an expected magnetic field threshold or magnetic field threshold range to provide a magnetic field comparison result and the system detects a plurality of temperatures and compares the detected plurality of temperatures to expected temperature thresholds or temperature threshold ranges to provide a temperature comparison result. The system determines if a notification should be sent based on the magnetic field comparison result and/or the temperature comparison result.
Third party energy management
A system of modules which control and measure energy usage at a building which are in communication with a software program executing on a remote server controlled by a third party. The third party said usage via the software program which communicates with the modules to modify energy usage and demand for energy and is responsible or liable for energy usage charges the building where the third party does not actually use the energy.
SELECTION OF THE PHASE USED TO COMMUNICATE BY PLC
Electricity meter, arranged to measure electrical energy supplied to an installation by a distribution network comprising a plurality of phases, the electricity meter including a communication module arranged to implement a communication by power-line communication; a switching circuit arranged to selectively connect the communication module to one of the phases; a processing unit arranged to control the switching circuit so as to connect the communication module to an optimised phase, from among the phases, which is selected dynamically to optimise a quality of the communication by power-line communication.
Efficient Collaboration between Meters under the Same Transformer
In an electrical grid, several electricity meters may be associated with the same transformer, and may measure electricity sold to respective customers. In an example, one electricity meter executes manager software, while the other electricity meters execute agent software. One or more applications operated on each electricity meter, and control metrology devices, data processing, operation of radio(s) and/or a powerline communications modem, aspects of electrical phase determination, etc. The agent software operating on each electricity meter may relay messages from applications operating on that electricity meter to other (possibly similar) applications operating on other electricity meters. Each message sent by each instantiation of agent software may include a networking score of that electricity meter. The manager software may additionally communicate with a data collector and/or main office server(s). The manager software may select a replacement meter from among those connected to the same transformer to assume the role of executing manager software.
Power control device and power control method
Information to be displayed on a display is generated in such a way that a gateway processes a measured value (with a time stamp) transmitted from a power meter, an appliance monitor, a solar module, and a battery center through a wireless LAN. In the gateway, information relating to the consumed electric energy is synchronized with each other by the time stamp. Further, an integrated value of the consumed electric energy is calculated with respect to time. The information can be secured by obtaining the integrated value of data even if breakdown of devices and the like occurs due to power failure.
GENERATING SIMULATED WAVEFORMS FOR AN ELECTRIC METER WHEN OPERATING IN A SIMULATION MODE
Techniques for generating simulated waveforms for an electric meter include operating a meter in simulation mode without an external load device connected to the meter. Simulated waveforms are generated for a number of channels based on waveform component values. The waveforms are generated at a rate that corresponds to a sample rate of an analog to digital converter (ADC) of the meter. In simulation mode, the waveforms are provided to a meter firmware interface, instead of the waveform data obtained from the ADC.
