ARC DETECTOR HAVING MULTI-BAND FREQUENCY DETECTION FUNCTION
20230358794 · 2023-11-09 ·

The present invention proposes an arc detector having a multi-band frequency detection function, which divides an arc frequency band using multiple band-pass filters and detects whether or not an arc occurs in each of the divided frequency bands, thereby eliminating switching noise or power supply noise that mainly occurs in a certain frequency band, and consequently increasing the accuracy of arc detection. In addition, the arc detector of the present invention may minimize the use of expensive analog-to-digital converters and increase the accuracy of arc detection through overlapping area detection.

QUENCH DETECTION IN SUPERCONDUCTORS

A method and system for quench detection in high temperature superconductors, such as REBCO (rare-earth barium copper oxide), before thermal runaway. A REBCO superconducting tape is excited as a transmission line forming standing waves. A quench may then be detected in response to detecting a disturbance of the standing waves. In this manner, quench in high temperature superconductors, such as REBCO, is rapidly detected before thermal runaway.

Buried cable break detector and method

A buried perimeter loop wire break detector with a base unit and probe unit. The base unit injects different frequencies into the two ends of the loop wire and the probe unit detects the frequencies at a test location along the wire. If a signal is not detected, that indicates the direction toward the break. By halving the distance along the wire toward the break and retesting, the location is quickly determined. Both frequencies and amplitude are measured, sometimes with amplification, both earth and wired grounds may be employed, and a micro-ohmmeter measures resistance of the loop wire to indicate satisfactory operation.

PULSED HIGH FREQUENCY MONITOR

A pulsed high frequency monitor of the present invention monitors the power level of a pulsed high frequency on the basis of a transition pattern in which the power level changes in time series instead of monitoring the power level by comparing the power level of the pulsed high frequency with a threshold value. The pulsed high frequency monitor comprises: a DC circuit that converts the pulsed high frequency into DC and outputs the power level; a power level change detection circuit that detects a level change of the power level; and a transition pattern determination circuit that determines a time-series transition pattern of the power level on the basis of the level change detected by the power level change detection circuit.
