DIVERSE SENSOR MEASUREMENT WITH ANALOG AND DIGITAL OUTPUT
Some described techniques address issues of latency and lengthy processing times associated with conventional redundant sensor measurement systems that rely upon digital transmission protocols by implementing a diverse analog sensor interface architecture. Additional described techniques provide a redundant signaling solution to achieve signaling diversity using a combination of analog and digital sensor interface architectures. The described architectures may advantageously use a number of sensor measurement paths that may be independent of one another or share any suitable number of common components to provide varying levels of redundancy. When redundant analog sensor interface architectures are implemented, the analog interfaces may also provide signal diversity with respect to the use of different types of analog transmission protocols, which may include different signaling interfaces (e.g. differential versus single-ended), different transmission interfaces (e.g. voltage versus current interfaces), and/or the use of different signalization schemes.
Passive arc detection and mitigation in wireless power transfer system
A charging system for charging a battery includes a rectifier that rectifies power received from an AC power source into a DC signal for charging the battery and an arc detection circuit that measures noise added to the DC signal and generates a measured noise signal. A processor analyzes the measured noise signal to detect a series-arc and, when a series-arc is detected, causes a shunt of the AC current of the rectifier for a period of time to reduce a DC output of the rectifier toward zero. A passive arc detection circuit is inserted between the rectifier and the battery and includes a filter capacitor and a sense resistor in parallel with a smoothing capacitor. A voltage across the sense resistor is amplified, digitized, and outputted as the measured noise signal. The DC signal may be scanned to obtain the measured noise signal in different frequency windows.
ELECTRICAL TEST DEVICE AND METHOD
An electrical test device may include a power supply, a conductive probe element, and a spectral analysis block. The power supply may be connected to an external power source. The conductive probe element may be connected to the power supply and may be configured to be energized by the power supply. The probe element may be configured to be placed in contact with an electrical system under test and apply an input signal containing current for measuring at least one parameter of the electrical system. The spectral analysis block may be connected to the probe element and may be configured to receive an output signal from the electrical system in response to the application of the current to the electrical system. The spectral analysis block may be configured to analyze frequency spectra of the output signal and detect a broadband increase in energy of the frequency spectra above a predetermined energy threshold. The broadband increase in energy may be representative of the occurrence of arcing in the electrical system.
