One or more RFID readers (collectively, an RF network) are located on a vessel, the RFID readers being configured to communicate with the RFID tag. Should the RF network detect a passenger overboard event, a modular rocket system is deployed. The modular rocket system comprises a guidance module, the guidance module including a guidance system for guiding the modular rocket system toward a target. A flight control module is removably attached to the guidance module, said flight control module including a plurality of airfoils. A flotation module is removably attached to the flight control module, said flotation module including a flotation device. A rocket motor module removably attached to the flotation module, said rocket motor module including a rocket motor configured to propel the modular rocket system.

TRACKING SAFETY CONDITIONS OF AN AREA

Apparatus for electronically quantifying conditions of a person and an environment containing the person, as well as a sequence of positions occupied by the person and a direction the person faced at those positions. Wireless communications track a series of positions over time and provide user interfaces indicating where a person has been and who the person has come within a minimum distance of. Sensors may be operative to provide ongoing evaluation of a condition of the person, such as a body temperature and heartrate which may trigger an alarm state if the body temperature rises above a specified value. Electronic sensors may also be quantify environmental conditions over time and present the conditions in the user interface.

Method and apparatus for detecting a laser

A laser detector apparatus (1) is provided, where a pixel array (3) is arranged behind a lens arrangement (4) such that distant objects (9) (in general, those at infinity) are out of focus at the pixel array. The image from the pixel array is evaluated by a computer processor (6) to detect such out of focus images which will be of a known size and shape (generally circular spots of known width). This can enable distant laser threats to be readily distinguished from nearby bright objects (10), whilst also protecting the pixel array from powerful laser sources (because the laser energy is not focussed to a point, on the pixel array it is less likely to damage the pixel array). It can also enable the wavelength of the laser to be accurately determined from the ratio of colours in the image of the laser spot, because it will typically not be a saturated image. The apparatus and method are particularly suitable for identifying and distinguishing laser sources across a wide range of brightnesses, and is also suitable for detecting and distinguishing multiple laser sources.

Solar tracker commissioning

The invention relates to electric solar trackers moving solar panels and being controlled by a solar tracker controller. More precisely the object of the invention is aimed to a commissioning procedure of solar power plants. The invention accounts for a mesh communications network, multiple gateways respectively associated to each solar tracker controller; the gateways acting between the mesh communication network and a solar plant communications system wherein each solar tracker controller is assigned a unique serial number comprising ID, position on the solar plant of the solar tracker associated to the solar tracker controller. The gateway determining a solar tracker as being available for commissioning and sending configuration data to the solar tracker controller of the solar tracker available for commissioning, the configuration data including information of auxiliary gateways to connect to in case a primary gateway fails.

A solar tracker assembly comprises a support column, a torsion beam connected to the support column, a mounting mechanism attached to the torsion beam, a drive system connected to the torsion beam, and a torsion limiter connected to an output of the drive system. When an external force causes a level of torsion on the drive system to exceed a pre-set limit the torsion limiter facilitates rotational movement of the solar tracker assembly in the direction of the torsion, thereby allowing the external force to rotate about a pivot axis extending through the torsion beam. Exemplary embodiments also include methods of aligning a plurality of rows of solar trackers.

Missile detector and a method of warning of a missile

A missile detector includes a primary sensor for detecting a potential missile in a first spectral range, a secondary sensor for detecting the potential missile in a second spectral range, and an evaluation unit. The evaluation unit receives first detection signals from the primary sensor and compares them with a threshold value. When the threshold value has been exceeded, a warning signal of the potential missile is issued. Second detection signals from the secondary sensor are continuously received and stored for a predetermined period of time, in order to perform a verification of the potential missile based on a traceback when the warning signal is present. The traceback involves analysis of the stored sensor signals of the secondary sensor.
