Light control member, display device and method of fabricating display device
A light control member includes a light control substrate including a surface, and a scalene prism disposed on the light control substrate. The scalene prism includes a first side surface extended at a first angle with respect to the surface of the light control substrate, and a second side surface extended at a second angle with respect to the surface of the light control substrate, the second angle being greater than the first angle. The light control member includes an etching stopper disposed on the scalene prism, and at least one absorption pattern disposed on the etching stopper on the second side surface of the scalene prism.
Coupling prisms for tunable optical metasurfaces
According to various embodiments, a solid-state light detection and ranging (LiDAR) transmitter includes a tunable optical metasurface to selectively steer incident optical radiation long an azimuth axis. In some embodiments, different subsets of lasers in an array of lasers are activated to generate optical radiation for incidence on the metasurface at different angles of incidence on an elevation axis for unsteered deflection by the metasurface at corresponding angles of elevation. In some embodiments, a prism is positioned relative to the tunable optical metasurface to deflect the optical radiation from the optical assembly by the optical radiation source for incidence on the metasurface at an angle of incidence that is between the first steering angle and the second steering angle, such that the optical radiation incident on the metasurface and the steered output optical radiation from the metasurface spatially overlap within the prism.
Method Of And Optical System For Illuminating A Sample Surface
Various embodiments may provide a method of illuminating a sample surface. The method may include arranging an illumination subsystem, the illumination subsystem including an optical source and at least one lens, having an optic axis at an incident angle greater than 0° and less than 90° to a normal of the sample surface such that a reference illumination distribution is directly generated on the sample surface based on optical light emitted by the illumination subsystem. The method may also include arranging an adjustment optical subsystem such that an adjusted illumination distribution which is more symmetrical compared to the reference illumination distribution is generated on the sample surface based on optical light emitted by the illumination subsystem.

A spectral feature selection apparatus includes a dispersive optical element arranged to interact with a pulsed light beam; three or more refractive optical elements arranged in a path of the pulsed light beam between the dispersive optical element and a pulsed optical source; and one or more actuation systems, each actuation system associated with a refractive optical element and configured to rotate the associated refractive optical element to thereby adjust a spectral feature of the pulsed light beam. At least one of the actuation systems is a rapid actuation system that includes a rapid actuator configured to rotate its associated refractive optical element about a rotation axis. The rapid actuator includes a rotary stepper motor having a rotation shaft that rotates about a shaft axis that is parallel with the rotation axis of the associated refractive optical element.

A waveguide head-up display (HUD) includes a waveguide that includes a lower surface and an upper surface and is configured to receive an input and project, based on the input, at least one image from the upper surface and into an eyebox, and a prism arranged at least one of on and above the waveguide. The prism includes a lower surface facing the waveguide and configured to receive the at least one image and an upper surface opposite the lower surface configured to project the at least one image received via the lower surface of the prism. The upper surface of the prism is angled relative to the upper surface of the waveguide such that a first normal of the upper surface of the prism is different from a second normal of the upper surface of the waveguide.

A color layer as an example of a functional layer is provided on the second surface of all or some of the plurality of microstructures.
