Four dimensional energy-field package assembly
Four dimensional (4D) energy-field package assembly for projecting energy fields according to a 4D coordinate function. The 4D energy-field package assembly includes an energy-source system having energy sources capable of providing energy to energy locations, and energy waveguides for directing energy from the energy locations from one side of the energy waveguide to another side of the energy waveguide along energy propagation paths.
ANNULAR LIGHT SOURCE DEVICE FOR FUNDUS CAMERAS
A device has a light guide portion and a light collector portion. The light guide portion is cup shaped. The wall of the cup has a cross section defined by sections of two ellipses disposed in a predefined manner with each other. The light collector portion is also cup-shaped, inverted with reference to the light guide portion, by a section of an ellipse and straight lines defined with reference to the light guide portion. The device radiates an annular illumination at the rim of the cup through total internal reflection of light from an LED, collected by the light collector portion. The device is made of a clear, colourless, substantially transparent material by injection moulding, one example being Polycarbonate. An annular light source system and a fundus camera using such a system are also disclosed.
SELECTIVE DEPOSITION/PATTERNING FOR LAYERED WAVEGUIDE FABRICATION
Layered waveguides, multi-layer waveguide displays with layered waveguides, and methods of fabricating layered waveguides with selective bonding material deposition and/or patterning.
Transparent illumination layer with transparent waveguide structure
An optical element includes a transparent layer, outcoupling elements, and a waveguide structure. The outcoupling elements are positioned across the transparent layer. The waveguide structure provides non-visible light to the outcoupling elements and the outcoupling elements outcouple the non-visible light as non-visible illumination light to illuminate an eye region.
Cartridge orientation for selection of a control function in a vaporization system
The present disclosure relates to aerosol delivery devices comprising a power unit and a cartridge that is configured for engagement with the power unit. In particular, the cartridge can be configured for rotation about a longitudinal axis thereof so as to be insertable into a chamber of the power unit in a plurality of different orientations. Further, the aerosol delivery device can include processing circuitry that can be configured for detection of the cartridge orientation and execution of a control function assigned to the respective orientation.
Light engine frame with integrated baffle
Systems are provided for a frame of an optic element of a lighting system. In one example, a baffle frame including extended exterior sidewalls and inner angled walls extending below a bottom surface of the optic element may reduce light reflecting off a workpiece and escaping outside and interior of the baffle frame.
Optical multiplexer and RGB coupler
An optical multiplexer that extends a transmission bandwidth of light is achieved. The present invention provides an optical multiplexer constructed of a multimode waveguide to which two single mode input waveguides are connected at a distance and two single mode output waveguides connected at a distance to a surface opposite a surface to which the input waveguides of the multimode waveguide are connected, in which a width of the multimode waveguide is smaller than widths of the two input waveguides plus a distance between the input waveguides, and the input waveguides are connected to the multimode waveguide and the multimode waveguide is connected to the output waveguides via tapered waveguides, respectively.
OPTICAL COMPONENT AND LIGHT-GUIDING SYSTEM
An optical component has: a planar liquid layer; and one or more light sources arranged such that light is guided to the planar liquid layer; wherein the liquid layer is configured to guide light.
Near eye display projector
A near eye display apparatus includes: a lens having a viewing area, the lens comprising a waveguide having a waveguide input and a waveguide output optically coupled to the viewing area; an optical projector having a projector output, the optical projector comprising an illumination source optically coupled to the optical prism element and configured to provide illumination light into the optical prism element at a particular direction, a spatial light modulator optically coupled to the optical prism element and configured to receive the illumination light from the optical prism element and to reflect patterned light, the optical prism element configured to provide the patterned light to the projector output at the particular direction; and an optical folding element optically coupled between the projector output and the waveguide input, the optical folding element configured to fold an optical path of the patterned light in at least two different directions.
Transflective, PCM-based display device
The invention is notably directed to a transflective display device. The device comprises a set of pixels, wherein each of the pixels comprises a portion of bi-stable, phase change material, hereafter a PCM portion, having at least two reversibly switchable states, in which it has two different values of refractive index and/or optical absorption. The device further comprises one or more spacers, optically transmissive, and extending under PCM portions of the set of pixels. One or more reflectors extend under the one or more spacers. An energization structure is in thermal or electrical communication with the PCM portions, via the one or more spacers. Moreover, a display controller is configured to selectively energize, via the energization structure, PCM portions of the pixels, so as to reversibly switch a state of a PCM portion of any of the pixels from one of its reversibly switchable states to the other. A backlight unit is furthermore configured, in the device, to allow illumination of the PCM portions through the one or more spacers. The backlight unit is controlled by a backlight unit controller, which is configured for modulating one or more physical properties of light emitted from the backlight unit. The invention is further directed to related devices and methods of operation.
