Multipass scanner for near-eye display

A multipass scanner usable e.g. in a near-eye display is disclosed. The multipass scanner scans a light beam angularly, forming an image in angular domain. The multipass scanner includes a light source, a tiltable reflector, and a multipass coupler that couples light emitted by the light source to the tiltable reflector, receives the reflected light and couples it back to the tiltable reflector to double the scanning angle. Then, the multipass coupler couples the light reflected at least twice from the tiltable reflector to an exit pupil of the scanner. A pupil-replicating waveguide disposed at the exit pupil of the scanner extends the image in angular domain. Multiple reflections of the light beam from the tiltable reflector enable one to increase the angular scanning range and associated field of view of the display without having to increase the angular scanning range of the tiltable reflector.

Display device and display method

A display device includes a laser irradiation device and a control device. The laser irradiation device is configured to irradiate an irradiation point located at a display position in air, with a laser beam having a wavelength equal to or larger than 380 nm and equal to or smaller than 780 nm and produce plasma at the display position. The control device is configured to control intensity of the laser beam emitted from the at least one laser irradiation device so that a relationship between intensity of plasma light emitted from the plasma at the display position and intensity of scattered light produced from the laser beam and scattered by the plasma becomes a predetermined relationship to display a color pixel.

Structured light projector and electronic apparatus including the same

Provided are a structured light projector that generates and projects structured light, and an electronic apparatus including the structured light projector. The structured light projector includes an illuminator configured to emit light, a pattern mask configured to form structured light by partially transmitting and partially blocking incident light from the illuminator based on a pattern of the pattern mask, and a lens configured to project the structured light. The illuminator includes a plurality of illumination areas respectively facing a plurality of areas of the pattern mask, wherein intensities of lights respectively emitted by the plurality of illumination areas are different from one other.

Illumination system and projection apparatus

An illumination system, including a light source module, a phosphor wheel, a light recycling element, and a light uniformizing element, is provided. The light source module emits an excitation light beam. The phosphor wheel includes a phosphor region. At a second timing, the other part of the excitation light beam transmitted to the phosphor region forms an unconverted light beam and is transmitted to the light recycling element, and is reflected by the light recycling element to form a recycled light beam. A part of the recycled light beam is converted into a second converted light beam. A first converted light beam and the second converted light beam are transmitted to the light uniformizing element through a same path, so that the illumination system outputs second light in the illumination light beam. A projection apparatus is also provided.

LIGHT-SOURCE DEVICE, IMAGE PROJECTION APPARATUS, AND DISPLAY DEVICE

A light-source device, an image projection apparatus, and a display device. The light-source device includes a light source to emit light, an optical element having a lens array on one side or both sides of which a plurality of lenses are arrayed with distance from each other, the distance between a pair of vertices of an adjacent pair of the plurality of lenses of the optical element being equal to or less than one-quarter of width of light flux of the light incident on the optical element, and a wavelength conversion element to convert a wavelength of the light emitted from the light source and passed through the optical element. An image projection apparatus includes the light-source device, a light mixing element to mix the light emitted from the light-source device to uniformize the light, and an illumination optical system to emit the light uniformized by the light mixing element.
