VIRTUAL CONTENT DISPLAYED WITH SHARED ANCHOR

Methods, computing devices and display devices are disclosed for displaying virtual content at a target location that is determined relative to a shared anchor. Image data of a physical environment may be captured. A shared anchor tag may be identified in the image data. Based on identifying the shared anchor tag, shared anchor tag image data may be transmitted to a server. Based at least on data retrieved by the server, a data packet comprising a shared anchor associated with a second display device is received, wherein the shared anchor defines a three-dimensional location in the physical environment. A hologram is displayed at a target location determined relative to the location of the shared anchor.

A method for displaying a hologram to a variable direction including using circuitry to determine a direction from a holographic projector to a viewer for projecting a hologram to a viewer, and projecting a hologram in the determined direction, in which the projecting the hologram includes reflecting from a same mirror as the determining the direction of the viewer, and the circuitry controls the projecting the hologram to a direction corrected for a difference in direction between a projecting unit and a tracking unit relative to the mirror. Related apparatus and methods are also described.

SHARING NEIGHBORING MAP DATA ACROSS DEVICES

A computing device and method are provided for transmitting a relevant subset of map data, called a neighborhood, to enable mutual spatial understanding by multiple display devices around a target virtual location to display a shared hologram in the same exact location in the physical environment at the same moment in time. The computing device may comprise a processor, a memory operatively coupled to the processor, and an anchor transfer program stored in the memory and executed by the processor.

METHOD FOR PROCESSING A HOLOGRAPHIC IMAGE
20180267465 · 2018-09-20 ·

A method for processing a sequence of holographic images with a view to playing the images back on a holographic display device to at least one viewer. A subset of wavelet coefficients relevant for the reconstruction of a sub-hologram visible for the at least one viewer from at least one viewing point is selected from a decomposition of at least one holographic image on a wavelet basis and information representative of a location of the at least one viewer in a repository of the display device. In the method, decomposition of the at least one holographic image is carried out on a Shannon wavelet basis.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for representing a transfer of a digital object using holographic images. User input is received that is indicative of a selection of the digital object for transfer from a sending device to a receiving device. Spatial attribute data is generated based at least in part on at least one of a distance or a relative orientation between the sending device and the receiving device, and a transition path is determined based at least in part on the spatial attribute data. Holographic image data is then generated based at least in part on the transition path, and the holographic image data is sent to one or more holographic projectors to cause a first holographic image representative of the digital object and a second holographic image representative of the transition path to be projected.

INTERACTION BETWEEN MULTIPLE HOLOGRAMS

An apparatus for hologram interaction is disclosed. A method and system also perform the functions of the apparatus. The apparatus includes an identification module that identifies a first hologram being projected within a space. The first hologram is projected by a first system. The apparatus includes a projection module that projects a second hologram within the space. The second hologram projected by a second system. The apparatus includes a detection module that detects movement and position of the first hologram and an interaction module that controls position and movement of the second hologram to dynamically interact with the first hologram. The first hologram dynamically interacting with the second hologram includes reactions of the second hologram in response to the detected movement and the position of the first hologram.

Briefly stated, technologies are generally described for providing a computer-generated holography (CGH). Example devices/systems described herein may use one or more of a server device and/or a client device. The server device may be configured to provide CGH data to a client device including a holographic image display unit. The server device may receive information on the holographic image display unit from the client device, calculate the CGH data from three-dimensional image data and the information on the holographic image display unit, and/or transmit the CGH data to the client device. The client device may be configured to provide a holographic image. The client device may reconstruct the holographic image on the holographic image display unit using CGH data and a reconstruction beam, transmit information on the holographic image display unit to the server device, and/or receive the CGH data from the server device.
