IC CARD, IC CARD PROCESSING SYSTEM, AND COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM

According to an embodiment, an IC card includes a communication interface and a processor. The communication interface communicates with an IC card processing apparatus. The processor transmits extended format support information indicating whether an extended format is supported for each of commands to the IC card processing apparatus.

Systems and methods for detecting potential shrink events via RFID technology

Systems and methods for detecting potential shrink events via RFID technology are provided. The systems include a point of sale (POS) system that includes an optical scanner, an RFID transceiver arrangement, a user interface and a controller. The controller is configured to perform example methods disclosed herein. For example, the controller may detect that the optical scanner has decoded a barcode, trigger the RFID transceiver arrangement to write a data string to an RFID tag located within the object scanning area, conduct a detection operation to detect the RFID tag with the data string in the bagging area. Responsive to detecting the RFID tag with the data string, the method involves the user interface performing a first operation. Responsive to not detecting the RFID tag with the data string, the method involves the user interface performing a second operation.

Product Tracking and Rating System Using DNA Tags

Material in a supply chain is tracked by a method of applying a DNA taggant set to a first batch of the material produced by a first supplier of the material. The DNA taggant set corresponds to a tag string corresponding to the first supplier. The first batch is aggregated with a second batch to create an aggregated lot. A sample is selected from the aggregated lot and tested to determine a DNA taggant set of the sample. After selecting a sample from the aggregated lot, the sample may be labeled with a grade and then placed in a receptacle corresponding to the grade.

ADAPTER FOR A PORTABLE BARCODE READER AND PORTABLE SCANNING SYSTEM

An adapter for a portable barcode reader includes a body having a base for selective placement on an external surface, adapter electrical contacts contained within the body and positioned to be in continuous electrical contact with reader electrical contacts of the portable barcode reader in a fastened state, a wireless charging receiver conductor coupled to the adapter electrical contacts, and a wireless controller configured to control charging of the portable barcode reader. The adapter maintains the portable barcode reader in a stationary position when placed on a surface such that the field of view of the portable barcode reader extends from horizontal to as much as 45 degrees below horizontal. The adapter may further include a near-field communication conductor and a microcontroller to wirelessly communicate indicia data captured by the portable barcode reader to an external receiver.

Multi-band multi-antenna RFID/optical document reader

A document reader including a housing having a lower portion and a rotatable upper lid; an optical reader located in the lower portion; a first RFID chip reader located in the lower portion, including a first RFID antenna configured for a first frequency of operation; a second RFID chip reader located in the rotatable, including a second RFID antenna configured for a second frequency of operation. The document reader first turns on the optical reader to detects and analyze a document placed between the lower portion and the rotatable upper lid, then turns on the second RFID chip reader to detect a second RFID chip in the document to read data from it at the second frequency, and then shuts off the second RFID chip reader, and then turns on the first RFID chip reader to detect a first RFID chip in the document to read data from it.

A payment terminal, including: a display, an input device configured to generate input signals indicative of a user input, a payment instrument reader configured to receive payment instrument data from a financial payment instrument, a secure processor connected to the payment instrument reader, a main processor connected to the display, the main processor separate and distinct from the secure processor, a secure input processor connected to the input device and the secure processor, wherein the secure processor is operable between an unsecured mode, wherein the secure processor sends input coordinates based on the input signals received from the secure input processor to the main processor; and a secured mode, wherein the secure input processor ceases input coordinate forwarding to the main processor.

Information processing apparatus and information processing method

An information processing apparatus includes a first reader electrically reading a first information in a non-contact manner; a second reader electrically or magnetically reading a second information; a touch panel electrically detecting the contact or proximity of an object; and a CPU electrically connected to the first reader, the second reader, and the touch panel. The CPU exclusively controls an ON/OFF of the first reading function of the first reader and an ON/OFF of the input detection function of the touch panel, based on a detection that the communication medium is placed in a predetermined position with respect to the first reader or a detection that the card is placed in a predetermined position with respect to the second reader.

Device and method for the detection of wear on a sliding contact and brushgear system

A device and method for detection of wear of a sliding contact which may be displaced along a brushgear, includes a sensor and a measurement indicator designed for detection by the sensor. The sensor and the measurement indicator approach or move away from each other by a shortening of the sliding contact caused by wear, and a brushgear system. The problem of enabling simple, reliable detection of the practically complete wear of the sliding contact is addressed by the sensor being designed for contactless and/or contacting detection of the measurement indicator, and by means of a brushgear system having a device of this kind, and also a method of this kind in which the sensor detects the measurement indicator becoming closer to the sensor contactlessly and/or contactingly and, when a threshold value for a predetermined wear of the sliding contact is exceeded, issues a warning signal.

Method for deploying large numbers of waste containers in a waste collection system

A method of redeploying waste containers in a waste collection system with an active or passive signal means requires a user to aim an optical character recognition reader at a waste container comprising a unique optical waste container identifier. The optical character recognition reader reads unique waste container optical identifier. The unique waste container optical identifier is converted to a unique electronically formatted waste container identifier. A unique radio frequency signal identifier is stored on a radio frequency emitting tag and associated with the unique electronically formatted waste container identifier. The radio frequency emitting tag is attached to the waste container.
