In accordance with some embodiments, a system for facilitating a card game is equipped with RFID antennas or interrogators operable to detect initial wagers placed by players on a table surface of the system. The system is further equipped with an electronic shoe which deals cards for the game and a processor with is operable to receive data both from the RFID antennas and the electronic shoe. Upon receiving data from an RFID antenna that a player has placed an initial wager based on initial odds and receiving data identifying some (but not all) cards dealt for a hand, the processor is operable to calculate adjusted odds for a re-characterization wager that would replace the initial wager, and output on a display of the system an offer for the re-characterization wager that corresponds to adjusted odds.

An apparatus for receiving and sorting disks includes a wheel having at least one well for receiving a disk, a motor coupled to the wheel, a collecting device positioned relative to the wheel, a disk sensor, an ejector, and a controller. The collecting device has at least a first collector and a second collector configured for receiving disks. The disk sensor is configured to detect a value of a parameter of a disk received in the well and generate a parameter value signal. The ejector is coupled to the wheel proximate the well and configured to eject a disk from the well in a plane parallel to a bottom surface of the wheel in response to an eject signal. The controller is operably coupled with the disk sensor and the ejector.

A coin comprises a core made of a first metal, an outer ring surrounding the core concentrically and made of a further metal, and a central ring between the core and outer ring fixedly connected thereto. The central ring consists of an electrically insulating material. Further, the central ring is transparent to electromagnetic waves of a first wavelength range and is less transparent or not transparent to a second wavelength range. A gaming system includes: a reader configured to read chip identification information which identifies a chip used in a casino; a writer configured to write validity information, betting information, and information about whether the chip is received from a cashier or from a dealer into chip information based on the chip identification information; and a determination unit configured to determine the validity, the betting state, and the source based on the chip information, wherein the writer is configured to update the validity information from invalid to valid when the chip is handed from the cashier or the dealer to a player and vice versa, to update the betting information as being betted when the chip is placed on a betting area and vice versa.

A gaming system includes: a reader configured to read chip identification information which identifies a chip used in a casino; a writer configured to write validity information, betting information, and information about whether the chip is received from a cashier or from a dealer into chip information based on the chip identification information; and a determination unit configured to determine the validity, the betting state, and the source based on the chip information, wherein the writer is configured to update the validity information from invalid to valid when the chip is handed from the cashier or the dealer to a player and vice versa, to update the betting information as being betted when the chip is placed on a betting area and vice versa.
