SYSTEM AND METHOD OF EXPANDABLE CONTAINERS INCLUDING SLIDING PANELS
20240156225 · 2024-05-16 ·

An expandable container. The expandable container includes a front base plate, and a left side panel, an upper left corner panel, a top side panel, an upper right corner panel, a right side panel, a lower right corner panel, a bottom side panel, and a lower left corner panel, all of which are movable relative to the base plate using guide rails. The expandable container also includes a movement mechanism that moves the left, top, right, and bottom side panels outward from the base plate. Movement of the left, top, right, and bottom side panels causes movement of the upper left, upper right, lower right, and lower left corner panels outward from the base plate. Such outward movement increases the inner volume of the expandable container. The expandable container is implemented as an expandable suitcase.

Ratchet-type expansion system for luggage and luggage incorporating same

The article of luggage includes a luggage main body having a bottom surface and a cavity formed to receive articles for packing; an expansion body having a perimeter defining a cavity; a foldable gusset joining the luggage main body to the expansion body; and an expansion and locking device disposed internally at opposite ends of the article of luggage. The expansion and locking device is configured to allow free movement of the expansion body in a compression direction towards the luggage main body and configured to allow locking movement of the expansion body in an expanding direction away from the luggage main body. One expansion and locking device is preferably attached to two or more walls of the luggage. After finishing packing, the luggage is closed and the user pushes the expanding member towards the base member, ratcheting the pawl past the ratchet teeth to collapse the luggage.

FRAME TO REMOVABLY ATTACH BAGS

Example implementations relate to a frame to removably attach bags. For example, an apparatus includes a frame, at least one frame wheel connected to the frame, and an extender device attachable to the frame. The extender device includes a platform, at least one platform wheel connected to the platform, and a first extender connector device on the platform to removably attach the platform to the frame and to removably attach the platform to a first bag of a first size. The apparatus also includes a frame connector device on the frame to removably attach the first bag to the frame.

COLLAPSIBLE HOUSEHOLD CONTAINERS

Collapsible household containers having a foldable wall section with shape-retaining characteristics are disclosed. In particular, collapsible laundry baskets, buckets, colanders, dish drainers, and cups are provided. The folding region may include foldable tiers of a flexible material, each tier having at least one stable, relatively expanded position and at least one stable, relatively collapsed position; and an intervening, non-folding tier composed of a different, relatively rigid material.

Extendable and retractable luggage

Extendable and retractable luggage comprises a housing including a first compartment therein for storage. The luggage also includes a module movably connected to the housing. The module includes a second compartment in communication with the first compartment of the housing. The module is configured to move within the housing in a retracted position and extend away from the housing in an extended position. The housing and the module are in an axial alignment, such that both the extended and retracted positions of the module within the housing are maintained in the axial alignment. A portion of the module and a portion of the housing overlap each other and connect together when in the extended position, and when the module is positioned within the portion of the housing, a frame at a lower end of the module is positioned against a rim of the housing to provide the retracted position.

The invention relates to a collapsible luggage bag that improves maneuverability of the bag when a user is towing the bag and collapses to a reduced size to improve portability. In particular, the invention relates to a handle that is slideably interconnected to one or more stays such that the upper ends of the stays change position along the length of the handle as the handle retracts into the luggage. Further, the handle disconnects from one or more of the stays such that the handle, stays, and other frame components collapse and lie in a common plane. This collapsibility improves the portability of the luggage bag when the internal volume of the luggage bag is not used to store items.
