Information Reading Apparatus
An information reading apparatus is provided. The information reading apparatus enables stable contactless communication with a contactless communication medium even when the apparatus includes a display device for displaying information associated with reading results, in addition to an information reading device and a contactless communication device. The information stored in the contactless communication medium held over a reading surface is read by the contactless communication device according to transmission/reception of electromagnetic waves via an antenna. The reading surface includes a reading port on the inside of the antenna in plan view of the reading surface, and includes a mark arranged not to overlap the antenna.
PRINTER, AND CONTROL METHOD OF A PRINTER
A printer enables determining the replacement status of a printer, thereby enabling forecasting problems specific to a printer location (such as a checkout lane) and problems specific to a business, and enabling easily devising a solution to the problems. A printer 40 disposed to a printer location has an interface 48 to which memory 34 associated with the printer location (lane n) is removably connected; and a printer replacement information writer that writes printer replacement information through the interface 48 to the memory 34 at a specific time.
MERCHANT DEVICES AND COMPUTER-BASED SYSTEMS INVOLVING COMPONENTS FOR MANAGING CASH TRANSACTIONS AT CASH-ONLY RETAIL LOCATIONS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
Merchant devices, systems and methods designed to provide and/or process cash transactions for customers of cash-only retail locations without need for traditional ATMs. In one embodiment, an exemplary POS terminal device may comprise a housing, dimensioned to install at a cash-only retail location, the housing having a cash storage receptacle and a cash management component configured to handle electronic cash transaction requests, and a communication component configured to transmit the respective electronic cash transaction requests. Further, the cash management component may include a reader component for interacting with a transaction card and/or device of a customer, an authentication component configured to scan and authenticate cash bills, a cash bills intake component, and a cash bills dispensing component. Accordingly, cash-only retail locations may implement such specialized devices and process transactions in ways avoiding reliance on traditional ATMs, such as those leased from third parties.
Arrangement for and method of cleaning a platter of a product checkout workstation
A checkout workstation includes a generally planar platter having a contact region, a generally horizontal window integrated with the platter, a data capture arrangement for capturing through the horizontal window a target associated with a product to identify the product being checked out at the workstation, and a support structure for supporting the platter in a generally horizontal plane on a plurality of bottom supports during product checkout. The bottom supports are asymmetrically mutually arranged about a periphery of the platter to enable the platter to tilt to a tilted plane that is inclined relative to the horizontal plane when a downward force is exerted on the contact region of the platter for cleaning the horizontal window.
Operating a self-checkout station
A self-checkout (SCO) station for a retail store has a reconfigurable bagging section that receives items scanned by a user. The SCO station determines whether the user does or does not require the SCO station to operate in a mode that complies with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If so, the SCO station automatically reconfigures the bagging section to ensure that the user is able to reach all items in the bagging section.
MOBILE PAYMENT TERMINAL COMPRISING AN EMBEDDED UNLOCKING FUNCTION
A mobile electronic payment terminal includes a reversible fixed attachment to a support. The electronic payment terminal also includes a command module, which commands unlocking of the reversible fixed attachment enabling the mobile electronic payment terminal to be detached from the support.
REGISTRATION SYSTEM, PROCESSING DEVICE, AND PROCESSING METHOD
The present invention provides a registration system (1) including: a placement member (40) being a plate-shaped member that transmits light, or being a plate-shaped member having a hole penetrating from a front to a back; a first camera (20) that captures a product (60) placed on the placement member (40) from a front side of the placement member (40); a second camera (30) that captures the product (60) placed on the placement member (40) from a back side of the placement member (40); and a processing apparatus (10) that registers, in association with identical product identification information, a first image in which the first camera (20) captures the product (60) and a second image in which the second camera (30) captures the product (60).
Terminal including imaging assembly
A terminal includes a housing, a touch screen, and an imaging assembly. The imaging assembly in one embodiment is disposed in the housing so that an imaging axis extends externally from the housing. The imaging assembly can be utilized for capture of images disposed externally to the housing. In one embodiment a frame of image data captured utilizing an imaging assembly can be processed for attempting to decode a decodable indicia. In one embodiment a frame of image data captured utilizing an imaging assembly can be stored.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
An information processing apparatus includes a processing circuit. The processing circuit has programmed instructions to acquire a first number of commodities specified to be purchased based on first data acquired by a first sensor, acquire a second number of commodities stored in a storing body that stores commodities to be purchased based on second data acquired by a second sensor, compare the first number of commodities with the second number of commodities, and provide a notification to a display device in response to the first number of commodities being different that the second number of commodities.
Detecting and preventing receipt printer jams
Disclosed are systems and methods for detecting a printer jam. The systems and methods can include receiving a reference image of a printer opening and a second image of the printer opening. A lack of a receipt between the second image compared to the reference image can be detected. The lack of the receipt can indicate the printer jam. After detecting the printer jam, operation of the self-service terminal can be terminated.
