SELF-SERVICE TERMINAL WITH INTEGRATED COMPUTER-VISION ITEM RECOGNITION AND PAYMENT FUNCTIONS
A transaction apparatus comprises a touch display, a framed element, and a vertical scanner. The framed element comprises at least two cameras focused on a scan area defined in front of the vertical scanner. The framed element is located above a top portion of the vertical scanner and the touch display is adjustable up and down relative to a top portion of the framed element. During a transaction when items are placed in the scan area, multiple images of the scan area are provided by the cameras. The vertical scanner scans any item barcodes for the items visible to a scan window of the scanner. The multiple images are processed to identify item codes for the items. Scanned item codes are compared against their corresponding item codes and the transaction is processed.
Interactive shopping system and method
An interactive shopping system, or smart cart. The system allows a user to select items in a store and complete a purchase without having to wait in lines or interact with store personnel. The system can have a container for holding products selected by at least one user, a user interface, a scanner in communication with the user interface, a processor in communication with the user interface, and a data storage comprising computer instructions executable by the processor. A user can select products, place them within the container, scan the products, and initiate a payment transaction to complete a purchase.

SELECTING CUSTOMER-FACING DEVICE BASED ON USER ATTRIBUTE
Techniques for conducting transaction(s) between a merchant and customer(s) via a multi-device point-of-sale (POS) system is described. The multi-device POS system may include a merchant-facing device and a plurality of customer-facing devices. A merchant application executing on the merchant-facing device may determine an attribute of a customer based on data received during a pending transaction. The merchant application may determine accommodation capabilities of individual customer-facing devices of the plurality of customer-facing devices. The merchant application may select a customer-facing device for the customer to use in the transaction based on the attribute of the customer and the accommodation capabilities of the individual customer-facing devices. The merchant application may generate a user interface directing the customer to the selected customer-facing device.
POINT OF SALE DEVICE FOR MOBILE COMPUTING DEVICE
Point of sale (POS) systems and methods are described. A POS device includes a housing with a payment instrument reader. The payment instrument reader reads payment instrument information from a payment instrument in response to receipt of the payment instrument at a read area of the housing. The POS device includes a first fastening mechanism that secures the housing to a mount that is coupled to a surface of the environment. The POS device includes a cradle of the housing that receives a mobile computing device. The POS device includes a second fastening mechanism that secures the mobile computing device within the cradle. The POS device includes a connector coupled to the payment instrument reader and extending into the cradle. The connector is configured to couple to the mobile computing device in the cradle, to convey the payment instrument information from the payment instrument reader to the mobile computing device.

COMMODITY REGISTRATION DEVICE AND COMMODITY REGISTRATION PROGRAM
According to one embodiment, a commodity registration device for a self-service checkout system includes a display screen, a processor, and communication interface connectable to a registration support server. The processor is configured to receive an input of a commodity code identifying an item to be included in a customer transaction, then receive and store commodity detail data from the registration support server. The commodity detail data includes a commodity name and a price of the item corresponding to the commodity code. The processor causes the display screen to display commodity data for items included in the customer transaction in a list format. The commodity detail data of items in the list format associated with a price-cut condition are displayed in a distinguishable manner for those items in the list format that are not associated with any price-cut condition.
Systems and methods for reader device registration, use, and management
A method and apparatus for reader device registration, activation, and use are described. The method may include receiving, by a commerce platform, a registration request generated by a reader device, wherein the registration request comprises at least identification data for the reader device. The method may also include transmitting, to the reader device, a registration code. The method may also include receiving, by the commerce platform from a merchant system, a second registration code purported to be the registration code transmitted to the reader device. The method may also include generating an encryption key associated with the reader device and transmitting the encryption key to the merchant system, wherein the encryption key is provided by merchant system to the reader device for use by the reader device when communicating with the commerce platform during merchant transactions.
