RAIL WARNING SYSTEM AND METHOD
20210323591 · 2021-10-21 ·

The present disclosure generally relates to a rail warning system using wireless portable transmitters/receivers. The rail warning system uses a chirp spread spectrum modulation scheme, and alerts personnel in work zones on or near train tracks as well as optionally, on track equipment and train operators, of approaching trains or on track equipment. Portable wayside devices may also be positioned on the rail web, optionally magnetically, to alert work personnel, allowing for secure placement but also portability to other locations on the same track or adjacent tracks.

System and method for providing an illuminated route for an object moving on a path

A system for providing an illuminated path for an object, such as a pedestrian or bicyclist. The system includes a central system unit, a number of vehicles networked with the central system unit and parked in a region. Each of the vehicles includes a detection unit designed to detect an object approaching the parked vehicle and to activate a vehicle light and illuminate a path. Each of the vehicles include a communication unit designed to transmit geo-position data of the parked vehicle. The central system unit is designed, as a result of a route query, to ascertain a route for the object from a starting location to a destination location under the criterion that a maximum number of parked vehicles networked with the central system unit are present along the route so that the best possible path illumination is ensured on the route.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium stores instructions, which cause control circuitry integrated into an article of clothing to perform a method. The method includes processing indications related to an environment of the article of clothing and activating, based on the processing of the one or more indications, pulsing circuitry integrated into the article of clothing to pulse in a selected pattern of a plurality of patterns. The plurality of patterns include patterns to indicate: location information related to one or more individuals; movement information related to one or more individuals; information related to one or more hazards in a vicinity of the wearer of the article of clothing; information providing instructions to the wearer of the article of clothing; and information indicative of whether one or more individuals have been determined to be a friend or a foe of a wearer of the article of clothing.

Synchronized safety lighting

Under poor lighting conditions, it is difficult to distinguish whether multiple lights are attached to the same object or multiple objects, particularly when they are flashing. In some circumstances, lights flashing at different frequencies and/or with different periods may be presumed by other road users to be associated with different objects, thereby diminishing the value of multiple individual lights on a bicycle. Synchronized safety lighting enables a cyclist to synchronize multiple individual lights so that they may flash in unison with the same repeating pattern. This provides a stronger visual impression of a cyclist and their bicycle to other road users by visually tying the cyclist's lights together.

Collision risk mitigation pedestrian light emitter

A collision risk mitigation pedestrian light emitter is a safety device through which a pedestrian's presence is visually signaled to a vehicle operator to decrease collision potential. The safety device includes a first telescoping leg, a second telescoping leg, a light-emitting device, a power source, and a locking mechanism. The first telescoping leg and second telescoping leg are terminally and hingedly connected to each other to form an L-shaped structure. The locking mechanism secures the L-shaped structure and is mechanically integrated between the first telescoping leg and second telescoping leg. The light-emitting device visually indicates the pedestrian's presence and is adjacently mounted to the first telescoping leg to enable variable light height adjustment. The light-emitting device is powered by and electrically connected to the power source mounted to the first telescoping leg. The second telescoping leg is used to mount/attach the safety device to the pedestrian, preferably to a backpack.

An article of clothing includes user-protection circuitry, integrated into the article of clothing. The user-protection circuitry includes condition-detection circuitry, which, in operation, generates one or more indications related to an environment of the article of clothing. The user-protection circuitry also includes broadcast circuitry including at least one pulsing device, and control circuitry. The control circuitry, in operation, activates the broadcast circuitry based on the one or more indications related to the environment of the article of clothing generated by the condition-detection circuitry.

WORK ZONE INTRUSION ALERT SYSTEM

One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for alerting workers in a work zone of a potential intrusion by a vehicle. The example system can comprise a detection unit operable to mount to a work zone boundary marker. The detection unit monitors the work zone for intrusion by moving objects using the Doppler Effect. The detection unit can transmit an alarm signal to one or more personnel alerters, such as worn by workers. The personnel alerters can receive the alarm signal and activate an alert, such as an audible, visual, or other sensory alert. In this way, an alert is provided to personnel working in an established work zone that a moving object, such as a vehicle, has penetrated the work zone perimeter. This type of alert may provide the personnel the vital seconds needed to move to safety.

Railyard crew member helmet for use within a railyard

The present invention relates to a smart helmet for use by railyard personnel at a railyard. The smart helmet may utilize many safety features, such as improved visibility, a real-time camera, a Wi-Fi antenna, an environmental monitor, high-accuracy location tracking, tracking the state of the railyard crew member, real-time communication, and mobile power. Each of these features may be incorporated with the smart helmet.
