Passive infra-red intrusion detector

A passive infrared motion detector discriminates between the motion of humans and pets in a premises. The motion detector includes an infrared sensor and a mirror for focusing infrared radiation from distinct fields of view. In one embodiment, a mask prevents infrared radiation from reaching the infrared sensor, and cut away regions on the surface of the mask allow selective passage of infrared radiation to the infrared sensor. In an alternative embodiment, the cylindrical mirror elements includes reflective and unreflective regions, which allow selective passage of infrared radiation to the infrared sensor. The cut away regions and the reflective regions are elongated to correspond to the shape of standing humans. As a result, the infrared radiation from animals only partially reaches the infrared sensor.

A method and a target monitoring system (TMS) to generate descriptive parameters of one or more target objects in a region are provided. The TMS dynamically receives first data comprising image data and/or audio data of the target objects in the region and second data comprising circumstantial information related to the first data from one or more sensors positioned in one or more spatial directions in the region over a network. The TMS filters the dynamically received first data and identifies the target objects in the region using image data extracted from the filtered data. The TMS generates descriptive parameters associated with each identified target object in the region using the filtered first data and the circumstantial information.

The NOC is external to the facility, and generates run time schedules, where the run time schedules coordinate actuation times for the each of the devices to maintain security for local security environments, and adjusts the run time schedules based upon occupancy levels generated by the NOC, where the occupancy levels are exclusively generated based on consumption of the resource and outside temperature. The control nodes are within the facility, each coupled to a corresponding one of the devices, where the control nodes are coupled together via a building security network that is operatively coupled to the NOC, control nodes execute selected run time schedules to actuate the devices.
