A stringless electric bowed musical instrument is disclosed in which sensors are provided to detect finger positions and bowing motions of the player. A touch-sensitive fingerboard surface is equipped with pitch sensors that detect finger positions. Use of a fingerboard surface that includes an interactive flexible touch screen display provides a plurality of illumination patterns to be displayed on the fingerboard and permits various operational modes that are useful for both students and artists. A bowing platform in contact with either the fingerboard or the body of the instrument provides an adjustable bowing surface for including bow sensors configured to detect vibrations in response to bow motion. The bow sensors may include piezo-ceramic elements. Optical pitch sensors may sense interruption of one or more laser beams that propagate above a top surface of the fingerboard.

WIND CHIME WITH REMOTE AUDIO SOUND

A wind chime including a series of individual chime tubes suspended below a base, and a striker suspended below the base and movable into contact with the plurality of chime tubes. The wind chime further includes an accelerometer positioned within each of the chime tubes and operable to generate an accelerometer signal upon contact between the striker and the chime tube. A chime control unit is included which is in communication with each of the accelerometers to receive the accelerometer signals and wirelessly transmit the accelerometer signals away from the location of the wind chime. A receiving station is located remotely from the chime control unit and is operable to receive the accelerometer signals and convert the accelerometer signals to a tone signal. The wind chime includes a playback device operable to audibly transmit the tone signals.

Music-colour synaesthesia visualization method

A visualization method for music-color synesthesia, belonging to the fields of cognitive psychology, color science and computer graphics, and relating to the visualization of the music synesthesia correlation of colors and the generation of a musical color combination scheme. In the method, a musical scale system is presented in the form of a color scale system, and the musical elements are presented through the color correlation to realize the synesthetic conversion between colors and musical elements, and on this basis, a color graphical conversion of the musical structure is performed. The implementations include: a conversion from colors to musical scales, a conversion from colors to chords, a conversion from colors to rhythm and a conversion from colors to texture etc.

Embodiment apparatus and associated methods relate to adapting an actuator to adjust the tension of a musical instrument string, configuring a sensor to detect vibration propagated through the musical instrument body, configuring a noise removal filter to remove an undesired signal from vibration propagated through the musical instrument body, and automatically tuning the musical instrument based on adjusting the musical instrument string tension by the actuator while removing the undesired signal, until the fundamental frequency propagated through the instrument body by the vibration of the musical instrument string is within a predetermined tolerance of a reference frequency. In an illustrative example, the undesired signal may be actuator vibration. In some embodiments, actuator vibration spectral content may vary as a function of actuator torque, and, the noise removal filter may be adapted in real time. Various examples may advantageously provide faster and more accurate stringed musical instrument tuning.
