A material applicator for cosmetic substances is provided. The material applicator includes a leak-resistant and low-friction container including a bottom portion functioning as a tube, an affixable top portion, and a plunger member configured to internally dispense the cosmetic substance from the material applicator. The plunger member further including a fluid-resistant friction-reducing coating made of polylactic acid (PLA) and being configured to slidably and frictionally traverse an interior chamber of the material applicator while preventing leaking of the cosmetic substance from the material applicator.

Housed within the barrel are a plurality of cartridge assemblies. Housed within the main body are a plurality of slide members for actuating the cartridges. Each cartridge assembly contains a mechanism for advancing drawing material or material to be dispensed.

A refillable absorbent swab applicator pen has a pen shell, a plurality of absorbent swab cartridges, and a cartridge advancement mechanism. The plurality of absorbent swab cartridges are positioned within the pen shell, and the cartridge advancement mechanism is integrated into the pen shell in order to advance the absorbent swab cartridges toward a dispensing end in order to expose a swab for use or discard a swab after use.

A barrel assembly according to an embodiment includes one barrel having an annular engaging projection; and another barrel having an engaging projection that protrudes toward the annular engaging projection of the one barrel, wherein the engaging projection of the other barrel has an engaging edge that protrudes in a direction of engagement, the engaging edge further has a protruding molded part that further protrudes from the engaging edge in the direction of engagement, and the protruding molded part of the engaging edge of the other barrel engages with the annular engaging projection of the one barrel.
